Chinook Winter Gathering
Chinuk Literacy night set for Feb. 20
A Chinuk Literacy Night will be held beginning at 5:15 p.m. Thursday,
Feb. 20, in the Tribal plankhouse.
A Grand Ronde story that has been illustrated and made into a book
will be read. There also will be storytelling, singing and dancing. Dinner
will be served at 5:15 p.m.

to ‘Wolf’ compact disc

Tribal Land and Culture Manager Jan Looking Wolf Reibach, who
also is a multiple Native American Music Award recipient, donated a
track to “Wolf,” a special benefi t compact disc to honor the gray wolf,
which may become delisted as an endangered species.
The concept behind the compact disc was sparked when Ellen Bello,
Native American Music Awards and Association founder, was invited
by the Endangered Species Coalition to contribute to their book “Wild
Success: The Endangered Species Act at 40.”
“Wolf” was released Jan. 16 for $9.99 both in hard copies and as an
instant download on the NAMA Web site at www.namalive.com.
Reibach joined other Native artists such as the Gray Wolf Blues
Band, Joanne Shenandoah, Painted Raven and Silverwolf in donating
a track to the CD. n
Yarrow concert to benefi t group
Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul & Mary fame will perform a concert benefi t-
ing Portland-based Wisdom of the Elders at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at
Augustana Lutheran Church, 2710 N.E. 14th Ave., Portland.
General admission is $20, seniors and students will cost $15 and children
14 and younger are $5. There also are sponsor tickets for $60.

St. Michael’s Catholic Church offers an open house brunch every
Sunday following Mass. The brunch is free to the community.
Brunch begins at about 11:30 a.m. following the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
Mass attendance is not required for brunch attendance. For more
