LIBRARY HOURS:
Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. 6 p.m.
(closed Monday - Friday: noon - 1 p.m.)
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Library staff recently reorganized the adult collection holding areas
as follows:
The Native American collection was moved to the front of the li
brary so that it is near the culture reference center and the culture
exhibits and displays;
The fiction collection was moved to the center stacks where there
will be room to accommodate growth;
The nonfiction collection was moved to the back area shelving that
previously held the Native American collection. Nonfiction had
outgrown its space and could not accommodate growth, which was
one of the main factors in undergoing these changes;
The reference collection was moved to shelving near the library
work desk.
These moves will take a while getting used to, so please do not hesi
tate to let us know how we can help you find items in the library.
Attention: In an effort to assist Tribal members with access to
genealogy information, there are now three locations where docu
ments will be available for viewing and to download onto a personal
device.
Documents are available at the Land & Culture Department, the
Tribal Library and at the Portland office. Due to many of the docu
ments having a significant number of pages, program staff will not
be printing copies of the documents.
Accessible documents are not certified copies and all pages are
stamped with a "copy" stamp. Land & Culture Department Manager
Jan Looking Wolf Reibach took the lead with this effort to make the
documents accessible. Our thanks go to Jan and his staff for all the
work they did with this project. Documents include past Tribal roll
and census copies.
New Library Program: The following program will be offered
monthly through December:
Native American Movie Night: First Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
(Youth under 13 must be accompanied by parents). Limited seating.
Dec. 5 - "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," based on the Dee
Brown book
Donations: Due to receiving two significant orders of new collec
tion items, Library staff has not catalogued donations this reporting
period. We appreciate all donations received and will get to prepping
and adding the items to the collection as time permits.
Reminder: Donations must be clean; no cassettes, VHS or mass
produced paperback books please.
Reminder: The Tribal Library is a Chemeketa Cooperative Region
al Library Services circulation site. Use your Chemeketa Cooperative
Regional Library Services library card to perform electronic holds on
resources in the 18 partner libraries and items will be couriered here
for check-out and can be checked back in here, too.
Reminder: The Tribal Library partners with Oregon State Library
to offer "library to library" inter-library loan services. By completing
the inter-library loan form, Tribal Library patrons may request items
from Oregon State Library's collection. Oregon State Library lending
policies apply for return of items.
