The Portland Trail Blazers and Moda
Health joined together for the "Rip City
Relay," a five-day journey that took a
ceremonial game ball from Coos Bay to
Waldport, Newport, Otter Rock, Lincoln
City, Grand Ronde, McMinnville, New
berg, Beaverton and ended at the Moda
Center in Portland in time for the team's
home opener on Saturday, Nov. 2. On
Thursday, Oct. 31, the relay stopped at
the Grand Ronde Tribal campus. Tribal
Council Secretary Toby McClary gave a
welcome, the Grand Ronde Canoe Fam
ily sang, and youth were given a healthy
snack provided by the Tribe's Community
Health Program and ran exercise drills
lead by a Blazers representative. Also, the
K-12 students at Youth Education pre
sented the Blazers representatives with a
banner they made.
