2003 - Families have been mov
ing into the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's new housing de
velopment, Chxi Musam Illihi, a 36-unit housing complex. About 23
families had moved in so far. The dishwasher is awesome," said new
resident Kimberly Contreras, who occupies a four-bedroom unit.
1998 - Tribal members were invited to vote on the name change
of the newspaper to the Grand Ron.de Review. Choices were sticking
with the new Grand Ronde Review name or adopting either Grand
Ronde Tribal Review, Grand Ronde Native Review, Five Feathers
News, Grand Ronde Tribal News or returning to the previous name,
Smoke Signals.

1988 - The Tribe scheduled a Reservation Celebration for Oct.
22 at Grand Ronde Elementary School to commemorate President
Ronald Reagan signing the Grand Ronde Indian Reservation Act
into law on Sept. 9.

Costume Bowling set for Oct. 25
The annual K-12 Costume Bowling and Trick-or-Treat event will be
held on Friday, Oct. 25.
A bus will leave Grand Ronde at 9:30 a.m. for Walnut City Lanes in
McMinnville. Bowling will last until 12:30 p.m. After returning to Grand
Ronde, trick-or-treating will occur on the Tribal campus from 1:30 to 3
p.m. followed by a Halloween Party from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

St. Michael's offers weekly brunch
St. Michael's Catholic Church offers an open house brunch every Sunday
following Mass that is free to the community.

construction, contractors and workers
The Tribe is developing a list of Tribal member-owned construc
tion companies and workers with road construction experience who
are interested in performing construction work for the Tribe and on
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects.
The Tribe is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with ODOT to provide hiring preference to Tribal members, those
with construction companies and individuals with construction ex
perience to work on various ODOT road construction projects.
Tribal members seeking employment in the construction field

Please provide your name, enrollment number, phone number,
type of work sought (unskilled laborer, concrete, paving, etc.) and
any special skills or experience you may have.
The Human Resources Department will assemble a list of interested
persons that will be distributed to ODOT. This list also will be distrib
uted to general contractors selected to do work on Tribal projects.
