Tribe creates Enrollment
Audit hotline
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde has created an En
rollment Audit hotline with which to collect frequently asked
questions from the Tribal membership.
The goal of the hotline is to develop a list of commonly asked
questions regarding the audit information that was distributed
in the April Tilixam Wawa.
The answers to those questions will be published in an upcom
ing Tilixam Wawa, as well as be distributed to the membership
in an information packet.
Please ask general questions only; please do not leave personal
inquiries regarding yourself or family.

Below is the most current information on the meeting days and times for
Tribal Committees and Special Event Boards:
Ceremonial Hunt Board meets as needed. Chair: Marline Groshong.
Cultural Trust Board meets at 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month
at the Elders' Activity Center. Chair: Perri McDaniel.
Culture Committee meets at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month
in the Land & Culture Department conference room. Chair: Betty Bly.
Education Committee meets at 5:15 p.m. on the first Monday of the
month in the Adult Education Building. Chair: Tammy Cook.
Elders' Committee meets at 10 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month
in the Elders' Activity Center. Chair: Gladys Hobbs.
Enrollment Committee meets quarterly in Room 204 of the Governance
Building. Chair: Robert Schmid.
Fish & Wildlife Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of
the month at the Natural Resources building. Chair: Harold Lyon.

Tribal Council gifted Tribal Council member Chris Marciar with a
plaqua and a blankat as ha ratiras from tha job ha has hald for thraa

said. "I considar mysalf vary privileged." Marciar planned to leave
for law school at Michigan State University early in the week of Aug.
5 and because he was not serving the last month of his term, he
presented General Manager Mark Johnston with a check for that last
month's salary, $5,000, as the first gift to the capital campaign for
tha Tribal Museum and Cultural Center. "I wanted to go out showing
appreciation," he said.

Tribal Council approved two
timbers sales during its July 31
meeting.
During the July 30 Legislative
Action Committee meeting, Tribal
Timber and Roads Program Man
ager Jeff Kuust said the Catface
Two Logging Unit sale will include
three cutting areas totaling 55.6
acres.
Kuust said 1.7 million board feet
will be harvested and sold to the
Tribe's Round Valley LLC.
Catface will be the first timber
sale under the Natural Resources
Department's new 10-year manage
ment plan.
In addition, the Right of Way Log
ging Unit sale will harvest 304,000
board feet, said Senior Forester
Zach Haas.
Both timber sales are scheduled
to be completed by Nov. 30.
In other action, Tribal Council:
Approved the Tribe's application
to the Northwest Portland Area
Indian Health Board for a Public
Health Accreditation and Quality
Assurance grant;
Approved a $1.3 million construc
tion contract for the first phase
of the cultural centermuseum
renovation project to Gerding
Builders of Corvallis. The first
phase will be completed by Dec.
31, said Tribal Engineering Man
ager Jesse White;
Approved the enrollment of one
infant into the Tribe.
Also included in the July 31
Tribal Council packet was an au
thorization to proceed with a capi
tal campaign to raise funds for the
museumcultural center, which has
been christened "Chachalu (Place of
the Burning Timber)."
Another authorization to proceed
gave staff from Land and Culture,
Natural Resources and Education
permission to pursue an agree
ment with Dartmouth College in
New Hampshire for Tribal col
laboration on studies relating to
the integration of cultural plant
management into Tribal lands
management. H
Youth Center seeks
volunteers
The Tina Miller Community Center Thrift Store, 1 10 B. St., Willamina,
helps fund the after-school and weekend youth community center located
in the old Willamina High School gym.
The thrift store is seeking volunteers who can help run the store, in ad
dition to donated items and customers. The store accepts clothes, books,
knickknacks, etc., as donations. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday
through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
Donations also can be left at the Wildwood Hotel and Restaurant in
Willamina. For more information on volunteering, call 503-876-7897.
The youth center and thrift store are nonprofit and 100 percent self
sustaining and volunteer-run.
