2008 - The Grand Konde Vet

2003 - Construction started on the Tribe's new convenience store
and gas station. The project is scheduled for "substantial completion"
by late November with a projected opening date of mid-December.
1998 - The Grand Ronde Gaming Commission was selected by
the National Indian Gaming Commission to participate in a pilot
project that sought to simplify and reduce the amount of paperwork
submitted by Tribal governments and reduce the time and expense
Tribes spend on coping with documents. As a result, the Gaming
Commission will no longer be required to submit a copy of employee
applications, investigative reports and licensing decisions.
1993 - Karen Schmid was honored as Nanitch Sahallie Employee
of the Month. She was a member of the ChoctawApache Tribe and
worked as an intake service counselor at the facility. She grew up
in Portland and attended Northwest Indian College in Bellingham,
Wash.
1988 - Plans were being made for the fourth annual powwow.
Tribal Council, the Powwow Committee and other interested persons
were scheduled to meet with Paul Whitehead, a familiar face on the
powwow circuit, to discuss dos and don'ts of powwow and to share
information about dances, traditions and protocol.

Notice to Tribal member
construction, contractors and workers
The Tribe is developing a list of Tribal member-owned construc
tion companies and workers with road construction experience who
are interested in performing construction work for the Tribe and on
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects.
The Tribe is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with ODOT to provide hiring preference to Tribal members, those
with construction companies and individuals with construction ex
perience to work on various ODOT road construction projects.
Tribal members seeking employment in the construction field
should contact Steve O'Harra by calling 503-879-2113 or via e-mail
steve.oharragrandronde.org.
Please provide your name, enrollment number, phone number,
type of work sought (unskilled laborer, concrete, paving, etc.) and
any special skills or experience you may have.
The Human Resources Department will assemble a list of inter
ested persons that will be distributed to ODOT. This list also will
be distributed to general contractors selected to do work on Tribal
projects.
Construction companies that are owned by Tribal members and
wish to be included on this list are requested to call John Mercier at
