2008 - Tribal members visited Tomanowos during the annual pil
grimage to the American Museum of Natural History in New York
City. Two Tribal Council members, seven Elders, family members,
student interns and representatives from Cultural Resources and
Education went on the trip.

and Tribal government.
1998 - More than 2,000 rodeo
fans visited the Grand Ronde Rodeo
Grounds on June 20-21 for the third
annual Spirit Mountain Stampede.
Events included steer wrestling, calf
roping, bull riding, breakaway, barrel racing and a clown act for
children.
1993 - Mark Cook and Russ Leno were pictured preparing the
powwow grounds for the 10th annual powwow set for Aug. 20-22.
Vivian DeMary was hosting a craft class at the Depot building every
Monday to help Tribal members work on their regalia.
1988 - Fifteen Tribal youth and members participated in a clam
ming excursion. They visited Netarts Bay to learn about the differ
ent varieties of clams and techniques for gathering them. Once they
returned to Grand Ronde, they learned how to clean their catch and
different ways to prepare them.

Notice to Tribal member
construction, contractors and workers
The Tribe is developing a list of Tribal member-owned construc
tion companies and workers with road construction experience who
are interested in performing construction work for the Tribe and on
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects.
The Tribe is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with ODOT to provide hiring preference to Tribal members, those
with construction companies and individuals with construction
experience to work on various ODOT road construction projects.
Tribal members seeking employment in the construction field
should contact Steve O'Harra by calling 503-879-2113 or via e-mail

Please provide your name, enrollment number, phone number,
type of work sought (unskilled laborer, concrete, paving, etc.) and
any special skills or experience you may have.
The Human Resources Department will assemble a list of inter
ested persons that will be distributed to ODOT. This list also will
be distributed to general contractors selected to do work on Tribal
projects.
