Clarence Dale Langley
Nov. 25, 1931 - June 17, 2013
Tribal Elder Clarence Dale Langley
went on peacefully to be with the Lord
on June 17, 2013. Dale was dearly loved
and he will be greatly missed. He was
81 years old.
Dale was born on Nov. 25, 1931, in
Grand Itonde, Ore., to Ivan Lewis Lang
ley and Grace Alice Englehardt.
Dale lived in Grand Ronde for most of
his life. He went to work in the woods at
a young age and worked as a logger for
many years. He also served in the U.S.
Navy. In 1957, Dale married Shirley Ann Keller in Willamina, Ore. They
were married for 56 years.
Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his tent trailer with his
family. Dale enjoyed gardening and taking care of his horses and mules.
Dale was a Grand Ronde Tribal Elder and was involved in many activi
ties, including the Rodeo Board, Fish and Wildlife Committee, Veterans
Committee and Veterans Honor Guard. Dale loved the Lord and was an
active member of the Lighthouse Church of Grand Ronde, Ore.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Langley of Sheridan, Ore; sons,
Edward Langley of Sheridan, Ore., and John and Bryan Langley of Mc
Minnville, Ore.; daughters, Kathy Werst of Grand Ronde, Ore., Debbie
Dolan of Troy, Mont., and Ashley Langley of Willamina, Ore.; brothers,
Ivan Casey Langley Jr. of Amity, Ore., George Thanos of Hartsville, S.C.,
Steve Thanos, and Carmine LaChance of San Diego, Calif. He is survived
by 29 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Langley; sister, Helane
Bauer; and mother, Grace Englehardt.
Visitation was held Monday, June 24, at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute
Center. A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the
Tribal gymnasium in Grand Ronde, with burial following at the Grand
Ronde Tribal Cemetery.

Roscoe Earl "Rocky" Langley Jr.
Dec. 30, 1932 - May 29, 2013
Tribal Elder Roscoe Earl "Rocky" Langley Jr., 80, walked on Wednes
day, May 29, 2013, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan,
Ala.
His funeral was held Saturday, June 1, in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges
Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Plummer of Dothan officiat
ing. Pallbearers were Rocky Standridge, Marty Kelley Jr., Shane Trawick,
Michael Sumner, Keith Nail and William Hauss.
He was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Grand Ronde, Ore., to the late Roscoe Earl
Langley Sr. and Rosella Leno Langley. He retired from Georgia Pacific
Paper Mill approximately 15 years ago as a maintenance man. He was a
U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Flat Creek
Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Norita Wakeland, Myrna Brick
ell, Sanda Henny and Jodie Hubbell, and one brother, Bill Langley.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Patricia Ann (Pat) Langley
of Blakely, Ga.; two daughters, Cheri L. Kelley and husband Marty of
Colquitt, Ga., and Laura Nail and husband Keith of Dothan, Ala.; two sons,
Ricky Langley III and wife Sandra of Blakely, Ga., and Ronnie Langley
and wife Jill of Colquitt, Ga.; brother, Erwin Langley of Otis, Ore.; and
sister, Joannie Langley Jones of Dallas, Ore.
He also is survived by 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren
and several stepdaughters.

Allan Fenton Young
Dec. 23, 1987 - June 18, 2013
Allan Fenton Young, 25, walked on
June 18, 2013, at "Icy Strait" near Ju
neau, Alaska.
He was born Dec. 23, 1987, in Rose
burg, Ore.
Allan dearly loved his family. He had
a zest for life.
Allan braved the open seas while
working on the "Wizard" from the TV
show "Deadliest Catch."
He expressed how he loved the crisp,
clean air of Alaska and so many ea
gles.
Allan would often share his experiences of the great outdoors of Alaska
and its beauty.
Allan attended Centralia College, obtaining his GED in 2009. Allan had
an amazing gift for music.
He respected the many guitars he owned and built with his father, John.
Allan and John would play their guitars for hours.
Allan truly loved to express his emotions through his guitars and also
through his big smile that he greeted everyone he met.
Allan was very close to his sister Jennie and brother Matthew. Allan
also had a creative taste for cooking, helping his mother, Debbie, in the
kitchen.
A humble man, a thankful man, a man with a heart of gold, with gener
osity he knew no bounds. Allan was a gift from God (Creator).
He lived, loved every moment to its fullest.
Allan knew the Lord, respected Mother Earth with pride and diligence.
We will surely miss our family member, Allan: son, brother, nephew, uncle,
friend. Rest in peace, Allan. ... Au-ho.

I'm following the path God laid for me.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Esther LaBonte;
grandmother, Betsy Schaefer; and Lester LaBonte, Floyd Daniels and
Allen "Boskie Boy" Tobiska.
He is survived by his father, John Young; mother, Debbie; sister, Jen
nie; brother, Matthew Holland; great-aunt, Fritz; aunts, Helen Tobiska,
Betsy Stone, Sonya Connelly and Cappi George; uncles, Scotty and Tim
Lane; and cousins, Jeffery Daniels, Sara Daniels, Tiffany Tobiska, Brenna
Stone, Brett Stone, Marlyn Connelly, Trena Towner, Miranda Cloud,
Ukiah Lomboy, Alex George, Amy George, Andrew George, Tonya Lane
and Mindy Lane.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in Chehalis,
Wash. A local memorial will be announced in the near future.
Clarice R. Holmes Ellison
Nov. 11, 1927 - June 24, 2013
Tribal Elder Clarice Ellison, 85, walked
on Monday, June 24, in Silverton.
She was born in Grand Ronde, Ore.,
the seventh of 10 children to Abraham
and Mildred (Fullum) Holmes.
She was a proud member of the Con
federated Tribes of Grand Ronde, where
she was active in Elder activities.
She was a dental assistant for several
years at Chemawa Indian Health Cen
ter. Clarice enjoyed traveling, going to
the beach and her flower garden. Her
greatest joy though was her two granddaughters.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Ellison, in 2008;
her parents; and nine siblings, Arnold, Elmer, Blandine, Earl, Lester,
Chester, Merle, David and Wilmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (David) Greenburg; granddaugh
ters Lori Holmes and Tiffany Keppinger (Mason); and numerous nieces
and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Willamette Valley
Hospice, Dee Humphries and Lone Oaks Care Home for their loving care
of Clarice.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 1, at Green Crest Memo
rial Park in Sheridan, Ore. Arrangements were made by Virgil T. Golden
Funeral Service of Salem.
