Course Description: Prepares students to become active partici
pants in the process of reading print and digital college level materi
als. Encourages students to build and apply a repertoire of reading
and thinking strategies to meet the demands of an academic setting.
Prerequisite: Placement into RD 115; or RD090 with a grade of C or
better; or consent of instructor
Credits: 3
Class DayTime: Tuesday and Thursday from 7-8:20 p.m.

WRITING 115 (Introduction to Composition) - CRN58085
Cost: $366 book(s)
Course Description: Introduces the conventions and skills of college-level
writing; emphasizes clear writing and critical reading
and thinking; bridges developmental writing courses and WR121.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR115; or WR090 with a grade of C
or better; or consent of instructor.
Credits: 4
Class DayTime: Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6:50 p.m.
First class meets: Jan. 8

Gates Millennium Scholarship
The Gates Millennium Scholarship program is accepting ap
plications for their 2013 application period. This scholarship is
for you if you are a high school senior, high school graduate who
has not yet started college or a GED studentgrad that has not
yet started college.
Applicants must have at least a 3.3 GPA (no minimum GED
score) at the time of application and be beginning college Fall
2013.
Application deadline is Jan. 16. Please visit their Web site for

YED closed Dec. 21 -Jan. 2
All YED programming will be closed to students starting on Dec. 21.
Programming will resume to students beginning on Jan. 2. Any ques

Reading For All: 12 Days of Christmas Book Drive: The
Tribal Library participated in the Marion, Polk & Yamhill County
"Reading for All" annual book drive held Dec. 1 -1 2 . The book drive
was still going at the time of this writing so we do not know how
many books were ultimately collected. We got off to a good start
though with 14 books in the first couple of days. Thank you to
those who donated to this great effort.
Donations: We appreciate the following contributors to the
library collection during this reporting period: Our thanks to
Marline Groshong, Lori and Andrew Hernandez, Veronica Gaston,
Angie Fasana and family, Perri McDaniel and Debra Jones. Thank
you all; your donated items have been cataloged and are shelved
for circulation. They are great additions to the collection.
