Jason William Emery
Sept. 22, 1974- Oct. 21, 2012
Tribal member Jason William Kmery,
38, a longtime resident of lioquiam,
Wash., walked on Sunday, Oct. 21,
2012, at the University of Washington
Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born in Aberdeen, Wash., on
Sept. 22, 1974, to Charles R. and Sha
ron M. (Erickson) Emery. He attended
local schools.
He was an enrolled member of the
Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
and enjoyed paint brushing, beadwork,
woodworking and drawing. He was a
skilled musician and was a member of
numerous bands in the area.
Surviving relatives include three sisters, Julie Ann Conway of
Lucerne, Calif., Theresa Lynn Emery of Aberdeen and Tammie Lo
raine Davis Emery of Ocean Shores, Wash.; three brothers, Daniel
Charles Emery and Douglas Randall of lioquiam and Dennis Carl
Emery of Ocean Shores; 1 1 nieces, seven nephews, three grandnieces
and eight grandnephews. He also is survived by numerous uncles,
aunts and cousins.
An urn committal service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park
in Hoquiam on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Arrangements were handled by Coleman Mortuary, 422 Fifth
St., Hoquiam.

Donald Gene Hudson
Nov. 18, 1946 - Oct. 7, 2012
Tribal Elder Donald G. Hudson,
son of Grand Ronde Tribal Elder
Eugene A. Hudson and Siletz Tribal
Elder Gladys M. (Lane) Bolton,
walked on Oct. 7, 2012.
Don was born at Chemawa Indian
School on Nov. 18, 1946. At the age
of 18, he was in the U.S. Army 173rd
Airborne Division in Vietnam. Don
returned from the war and re-enlisted
for six years, but was given a
medical discharge. He was diagnosed
with post-traumatic stress syndrome
and Agent Orange. He dealt with the
demons of war and had continued flashbacks and seizures. He was
one of the proudest veterans of the Vietnam conflict.
Don worked for various Native American Tribes and organiza
tions. He worked for Native American organizations in Idaho and
locally for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and Confed
erated Tribes of Siletz. He was a program developer and worked
tenaciously for veterans of all conflicts and wars. He participated
in many color guard functions for Tribes and was known to carry
the Vietnam flag.
Don is survived by his wife, Margo Hudson of Siletz; daughter,
Tamora Herrmann; and was preceded in death by his son, Blue.
He is also survived by his parents, Eugene Hudson of Salem and
Gladys (Lane) Bolton of Keizer; his identical twin brother Ron
Hudson and brother Bill Hudson of Keizer; and grandchildren,
Chelsea and Cliff Herrmann. He also had numerous stepchildren,
nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Tribal Housing sets emergency
preparedness event
The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority will be holding
an emergency preparedness event dubbed "R U Ready for the
Zombie Apocalypse?" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov 1, in the Tribal
Community Center.
The event, presented by the American Red Cross, will cover
how to prepare for surviving a severe winter storm, earthquake
or highly unlikely invasion of flesh-eating zombies. There also
will be a Kids' Corner with activities and prizes.
The informational event is open to Tribal housing residents and
Grand Ronde community members.
Chili and comb read will be served.
