Medicare Part B
reimbursement notice
If you are a Grand Ronde Tribal member, have reached the age of retirement
(65) or have started to receive Social Security Retirement or disability benefits
through Social Security (SSD), you may be eligible to receive Medicare Part
li benefits through the Tribe. To find out if you are eligible, or to get enrolled
in Medicare Part 1$, please do the following: call toll-free 1-800-MEDICARE
(1-800-633-4227) or go online at www.medicare.gov. You will need to request
an application for enrollment in Medicare Part B and return it to your local
Social Security Office. Once you jare enrolled in Medicare Part B through
Social Security, you will need to call our office to request a Medicare Part B
Reimbursement packet to apply. As a Grand Ronde Tribal member, the Tribe
will reimburse your Medicare Part B premium each month at the standard
rate.
Note: If you are currently on the Skookum Tribal Health Plan it is
required that you accept Medicare Part D when you become eligible. By
not accepting Medicare Part B, your coverage for medical expenses could
be drastically reduced.
If you need a Medicare Part B reimbursement packet sent to you or have
any questions regarding the Tribe's reimbursement program, call Reina
Nelson in Member Services at 503-879-2223 or toll-free at 1-800-422-0232,
ext. 2223. You may call Barbara Steere with questions regarding
our Skookum Tribal Health Plan coverage at 503-879-2487 or toll-free
at 1-800-749-2928. H
Chinuk Wawa classes offered
The Tribe's Cultural Education Department offers adult Chinuk Wawa
language classes from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in Room
207 of the Tribal Education Building. Language classes can be taken
for college credit or for fun. For more information, call 503-879-2249 or

TRESPASS AND EXCLUSION ORDINANCE
The Tribal Council, in consultation with the Tribal Attorney's Office,
is considering adoption of a Trespass and Exclusion Ordinance. The
proposed Ordinance was given a First Reading at the Aug. 22, 2012,
Tribal Council meeting.
Certain types of conduct by persons on Tribal lands endanger
the health, safety and welfare of enrolled Tribal members and may
threaten the political integrity and the economic security of the Tribe
and its lands and possessions. The intent of this Ordinance is to es
tablish policy and procedure necessary to protect the public health,
safety, welfare, economy, environment and natural resources of the
Tribe, its members and Tribal land.
For a copy of the proposed Trespass and Exclusion Ordinance, con
tact the Tribal Attorney's Office at 503-879-4664. The Tribal Council
invites comment on the Ordinance. Please send your comments to the

Changes to Social Services
Emergency Assistance
and Medical Gas Voucher Program
For all income criteria programs, wage verification for past 60
days (wage stubs) will need to be submitted. If client has not worked
for a period of time, client will need to submit a printout from their
State Employment Office or printout from Oregon Self-Sufficiency
Office as verification of income. Rentaldeposit or utility assistance
may be utilized only one time in a 24-month rolling calendar pe
riod and is not to exceed the maximum contribution of $1,000 per
household within any 24-month rolling calendar period.
Medical Gas Vouchers
Social Services will not provide gas vouchers for medical ap
pointments, counseling or drug & alcohol treatment. The only
exception to this is for scheduled treatment plans, (i.e.: radiation,
chemotherapy, surgery, etc.) and has caused hardship on the fam
ily, medical gas vouchers can be distributed to meet the need of the
circumstances. A copy of all scheduled treatment plans must be
received before client is eligible to receive this service. Assistance
will end on the date of the last treatment appointment.
