The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
Women's Transition House Renovation and Addition
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde wishes to retain an
ArchitecturalEngineering team to perform planning and design
services for a Women's Transition House Renovation and Addition
project. The Tribe plans to renovate an existing 2,280 sq. ft. house
and construct a 1,560 sq. ft. addition to the home. It is anticipated
that the existing house will include the kitchen, dining rooms, a
living room, family room, and 3 or 4 bedrooms. The addition will
include 4 or 5 bedrooms, a storage room, a large laundry room, an
adult lounge room, and additional bathrooms.
The project is funded by a HUD Indian Community Development
Block Grant. Indian preference applies to Indian-owned economic
enterprises or organizations. '

Opportunity for comment on GRTHA's
2011 Annual Performance Report (APR)
Under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-De-termination
Act of 1996, (NAHASDA), the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will provide grants to
Indian TribesIndian Housing Authorities for the development
and operation of low-income housing in Indian areas. Grants are
made to eligible recipients under the Indian Housing Block Grant
Program. To be eligible for the grants, respondents must submit an
Indian Housing Plan that meets the minimum requirements of the
Act, and also submit an Annual Performance Report to HUD, and
maintain records for HUD monitoring. The Grand Ronde Tribal
Housing Authority (GRTHA) has received multiple grants under
this program which were active during 2011. Comments on the
Annual Performance Report are welcome and copies of this
report can be obtained at the GRTHA office or bv calling
503-879-2401. or 1-800-422-0232. ext. 2401. Comments must
be submitted in writing to GRTHA no later than 5 p.m..
Monday. April 16. 2012. All comments will be incorporated into
the final report submitted to HUD.
Sanda "Sam" Lois Henny
April 8, 1947 - March 15, 2012
Tribal Elder Sanda "Sam" Lois
Henny, 64, a resident of Dallas,
walked on Thursday, March 15,
2012, in Salem Hospital.
She was born April 8, 1947, in
McMinnville, Ore., the daughter
of Roscoe and Rosella Leno Lang
ley. She married John Lemery
Henny of Brooks, Ore., on Nov.
30, 1968, at St. Michael's Catho
lic Church in Grand Ronde, Ore.
They lived and worked in Brooks
for 30 years and were proud mem
bers of the Gervais community
and the Catholic Church.
Sanda worked hard and was a proud member of the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde and a Tribal Elder. She worked for Spirit
Mountain Casino as Tribal Development manager and trainer.
She worked in the Human Resources field for more than 25 years
in employee relations, training and organizational and career de
velopment. She was a member of the National Native American
Human Resources Association and a past member of the board of
directors.
Sanda was very talented as a Native American basket weaver and
she has baskets displayed at the University of Oregon in Eugene
and Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University in Salem.
She also taught basket weaving classes at other Oregon Tribes.
She was a big fan of the Oregon State University Beavers and the
Seattle Mariners. She enjoyed making cards and doing crafts, and
was also a talented artist in paints. She was very dedicated to her
husband, two children and four grandchildren.
Sanda retired from Spirit Mountain Casino in December 2011
after her 10-year-long courageous battle with cancer. Through it
all, she always had a smile for everyone and a fabulous sense of
humor.
She is survived by her husband, John Henny of Dallas; son, Adam
(Julie) Henny of Beaverton; daughter Sarah (Michael) Harvey of
Keizer; and four grandchildren, Genevieve and John Henny and
Jordan and Evan Harvey. Also surviving are siblings Roscoe Lang
ley Jr. of Blakely, Ga., Erwin Langley of Otis, Ore., and Joan Jones
of Dallas, Ore. Her siblings who walked on before her were Norita
Wakeland, Myrna Brickell, Marvin Langley and Jody Hubbell.
The Rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Fu
neral Mass on Thursday, March 22, at St. Philip Catholic Church
in Dallas, with a reception immediately following at the church.
Private burial was at the Holmes Cemetery in Grand Ronde on .
Friday, March 23.
Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center handled the arrangements.
