Youth Center seeks volunteers
The Tina Miller Community Center thrift store, 110 B. St., Willamina,
which helps fund the after-school and weekend youth community center
located in the old high school gym, is seeking volunteers who can help run
the store, in addition to donated items and customers.
The store accepts clothes, books, knickknacks, etc., as donations. It is
open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed on Sunday
and Monday. Donations also can be left at the Wildwood Hotel and Res
taurant in Willamina.

The youth center and thrift store that funds it are a nonprofit and 100
percent self-sustaining and volunteer-run.
West Valley Hospital Foundation
seeks applicants in medical field
West Valley Hospital Foundation scholarship applications for stu
dents in medically related fields of study are available and applica
tions must be turned in by Saturday, March 31. Applicants must have
a permanent residence in Polk County or be a West Valley Hospital
employee, or a family member of a West Valley Hospital employee,
and must have applied to a college in their field of study before ap

Nutrition class offered in Eugene
The Tribe's Eugene satellite office has been offered a seven-week series
focusing on nutrition on a budget to be held at the Oregon State University
Land Extension Services office, 783 Grant St., Eugene.
During the class, participants will learn about each food group and some
healthy family meals. They also will sample some recipes and receive a
small gift at the end of each class.
Children are welcome.

American Museum of Natural
History and Tribal Internships
Applications are currently being accepted for this year's internship
program in New York City.
Eligibility is as follows:
Current high school sophomore, junior or senior (priority will be
given to sophomorejunior students);
Male Grand Ronde Tribal member who currently resides in the
state of Oregon;
GPA of at least a 2.5 (accumulative) or 3.0 in previous term;
Good attendance record (fewer than 4 unexcused absences in the
previous term);
Good behavior (student must demonstrate maturity and good
decision-making skills - students who have had any discipline
referrals in the past 3 months must submit an appeal to have her
application read).
Commitment:
Student must commit to being present throughout the entire
internship experience (June 3-23, 2012);
Student must present to the Grand Ronde community following
the trip to New York (sometime between July and September of
2012);
Student must present to the incoming internsparticipants prior
to their departure the following year (approx. May of 2013).
All portions of the completed application must be returned to
CTGR Youth Education Program by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 21,
2012.
Applications have recently been mailed using the CTGR address
database.
