participants in the learning process. Encourages students to build and
employ a collection of effective learning strategies necessary to meet the
learning challenges of academic and career settings. Develops note tak
ing, listening, textbook study-reading, time management, test-taking and
concentration and memory strategies. Focuses on reducing test anxiety and
procrastination, Identifies campus resources and learning preferences.

MATH 60 (Introductory Algebra)

Course Description: Gives students with no algebra background a
strong, fundamental background in beginning algebra. Covers signed
numbers, elementary algebraic expression manipulation and equation
solving. Describes concepts using verbal, numerical, graphic and symbolic
forms. Scientific calculator required. Prerequisite: MTH020 with a grade
of C or better, or equivalent course as determined by instructor; or consent
of instructor.
Credits: 4

To sign upregister for the class, go to www.chemeketa.edu - New Stu
dents: Click on the Quick Links tab, then click on Admission and complete
the Chemeketa Admission Application.
You will then be e-mailed a user name and password for your My
Chemeketa Account. Then follow the Continuing Student instructions
for registering. Continuing Students: Go to my.chemeketa.edu and type
in your user name and password. Then from the shortcuts menu, select
AddDrop classes and follow the prompts.

Ronde including online classes, go to www.chemeketa.edu - Select the
Classes tab at the top of the Web page and then click on Winter Term
Schedule of Classes.

Intertribal Timber Council scholarships
The Truman D. Picard Scholarship program is dedicated to the support
of Native American students pursuing a higher education in Natural
Resources. $2,000 will be awarded to current college students and $1,500
will be awarded to graduating high school seniors. The 2012 application
deadline is Jan. 27. Please visit their Web site for additional information
