Patch Scholarship Fund
Applications are now being accepted for the Nellie Thompson-Dorothy
Patch Scholarship Fund. Applicants must live or go to school in the Salem
Keizer area and be a high school senior student of color. Applications may
be obtained by contacting Michael Swaim at 503-363-0063, or contacting
the Tribal Scholarship Office at 1-800-422-0232, ext. 1345 (direct at 503-879-1345).
The application deadline is Dec. 16.

The Oregon Student Assistance Commission is now accepting applications
for the 2012 process. OSAC administers more than 400 scholarships through
their single application for Oregon students. Students who are members
of Oregon Tribes and live out of state are also eligible to apply if they plan
on attending college in Oregon. Visit http:getcollegefunds.orgeApp.html
to apply. This application has an early bird deadline of Feb. 16, 2012, and
a final deadline of March 1. Early bird applicants are entered into a $500
scholarship drawing just for turning their application in early.

The Tribal Higher Education programs will be
distributing used surplus computers from
Tribal Information Systems for Grand Ronde
Tribal member college students.
Students must meet the following criteria In order to be eligible:
Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Completed at least one college academic year with at least 36 credits
Must not owe a debt to the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde on behalf of Edu
cation Be an enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal member
Cannot have been awarded a computer system or laptop through a previous Tribal
Higher Education drawing
Eligible applicant's names that are received by Friday, December 2, 2011 will be placed
In a pool and selected in a random drawing. The random drawing will take place on
December 5, 2011. Students must submit an application to determine eligibility.

Gates Millennium Scholarship workshop
. Christa Moya from the American Indian Graduate Center will be
in Grand Ronde on Nov. 30, 2011. Please join us at 4 p.m. in Adult
Education to learn more about what it takes to make a successful
application. This is a great opportunity to learn more about one of
the best scholarships available to Native students. Requirements are:
have not attended college yet, have at least a 3.3 GPA at the time of
application OR have earned a GED, have involvement in the commu
nity,' be Pell Grant eligible (this will be explained at the workshop).
Recipients receive 100 percent of their unmet need for college. Don't

Computer Workshop

The workshops will be taught by the Northwest Computer Learning
Center and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the computer lab in the Adult
Education Building.
Cost for the workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can apply
to the Noncredit Program for assistance with registration costs. Space is
limited to the first 1 5 who register. ' " ' ' "

LIBRARY HOURS:
Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
(closed Monday - Friday: noon - 1 p.m.)
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Tiny Tot Program: For children age birth through 2 years old.
This one-hour program is held the first Monday of the month from
Noon - 1 p.m. at the Tribal Library. Dec. 5.
Friends of the Library Chapter: An information meeting will
be held in the library on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. Please plan to attend to
hear more about Friends Chapters if you are interested in becoming
. more involved with library activities.
Veterans Photo Project: The "Honoring our Tribal Veterans"
photo tribute DVD will run continuously during open hours Nov. 7
Nov. 16 and after that upon request for the remainder of November.
Many thanks to Smoke Signals staff who had access to veteran photos
from previous Tribal events to create a fabulous DVD tribute for the
library to show in recognition of Veterans Day.
Donations: We appreciate the following people for their contribu
tions to the library collection during this reporting period: Brandy
Humphreys, Kristy Deloe, Shannon Stanton, Chess for Success and
to Sharlene Craddit for donating 309 DVDs. Donated items have
been cataloged and are shelved for circulation. Thank you everyone
for some great additions to the collection.
New Library Home Page: The Tribal Library was able to launch
the new Library Home Page on the new Culture Kiosk computer in
the Library on Nov. 1 in recognition of "National American Indian
Heritage Month." Please visit the new Library Home page that in
cludes links to Tribal history and information for easy access to CTGR
and other Native American databases. Our appreciation goes to the
Tribal IS Department for getting this page up and running and to
David Lewis for creating the page.
Please join in to welcoming Mary Reeves as the new Library Aide.
Mary will be working in the Library on Saturdays and on days library
coverage is needed. Welcome Mary!
