Patch Scholarship Fund
Applications are now being accepted for the Nellie Thompson-Dorothy
Patch Scholarship Fund. Applicants must live or go to school in the Salem
Keizer area and be a high school senior student of color. Applications may
be obtained by contacting Michael Swaim at 503-363-0063, or contacting
the Tribal Scholarship Office at 1-800-422-0232, ext. 1345 (direct at 503-879-1345).
The application deadline is Dec. 16.
SAC scholarships
The Oregon Student Assistance Commission is now accepting applications
for the 2012 process. OSAC administers more than 400 scholarships through
their single application for Oregon students. Students who are members
of Oregon Tribes and live out of state are also eligible to apply if they plan
on attending college in Oregon. Visit http:getcollegefunds.orgeApp.html
to apply. This application has an early bird deadline of Feb. 16, 2012, and
a final deadline of March 1. Early bird applicants are entered into a $500
scholarship drawing just for turning their application in early.

Eligible applicant's names that are received by Friday, December 2, 2011 will be placed

Important notice to full-time students
All full-time students must submit verification that you have ap
plied to a scholarship outside the Tribe BEFORE funding will be
released for the termsemester. Verification can include a scholar
ship award or denial letter, e-mail verification that an application
was submitted, a copy of the application or your financial aid award
letter that lists an outside scholarship. Please contact Education at

Online degree programs
Turn your college credits or associate degree into a more powerful four-year
degree from Portland State University. Undergraduate degrees offered: BA
BS in Social Science, BABS in Arts & Letters and BABS in Liberal Studies.

American Indian Services scholarships
Full-time or part-time undergraduate students enrolled in a col
lege, university, junior college or technical school can apply to the
American Indian Services Scholarship. Must be enrolled at least
14 Native American blood. Applicant must have no more than
150 semester credits or 210 quarter credits and have a minimum
cumulative GPA of 2.25. The application deadline is Nov. 15 for

There is assistance to help with your college admissions fees and gradua
tion expenses as well as other important program information we would

LIBRARY HOURS:
Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
(closed Monday - Friday: noon - 1 p.m.)
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Tiny Tot Program: For children age birth through 2 years old.
This one hour program is held the first Monday of the month from
Noon - 1 p.m. at the Tribal Library. Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.
Friends of the Library Chapter: A sign-up sheet is posted at
the library if you are interested in attending an information meeting
please let library staff know or come in to sign up.
Veterans Photo Project: We plan to put together an "Honoring
our Veterans" photo display in the Tribal Library to run through
the month of November. We hope to access photos already available
at other Tribal departmentcommittees as .we did not generate the '

butions to the library collection during this reporting period: Dana.

and Elaine Lane. All of your donated items have been cataloged and

We are still cataloging the Sharleen Craddit donation and have
added another 100 DVDs to the collection in the month of October.

New Items to the Collection: In addition to the 200 donated
items that have been added to the collection this reporting period,
we have also added another 150 new items that we purchased. This
adds up to many new selections available for check-out.
New computer: The library has added a fifth computer that is
available for use. The computer will be set up as a Culture Informa
tion Kiosk area as soon as the information page can be created and
installed. The hope is to have basic information up and running by
early November,
