2006 Tribal Elder Kathryn Harrison was honored at a Women
of Distinction luncheon held at Marylhurst University. Harrison
was chosen as the Woman of Faith because of her "astounding role
in influencing the socio, political and historical account of Oregon
and Native Americans." The event was held at the Multnomah
Athletic Club in Portland.
2001 The Tribe's Spirit Mountain Development Corp. part
nered into a residential real estate venture in Portland's Pearl
District. Gregory Lofts, at 11th and Glisan, was fashioned after
other similar buildings in Cleveland, New York C'ty and Chicago,
providing residents the opportunity to customize their living
spaces.
1996 The Tribe established a Cultural Resources Protection
Program in response to passage of the Native American Graves
Protection and Repatriation Act. Tribal member June Olson was
hired as the Cultural Resources Specialist.
1991 Dentist Tammy McClung started working at the Tribal
Health Department in Grand Ronde on Oct. 1, bringing oral
health care locally to Tribal members between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
1986 Tribal youth Travis Stewart donated two Indian pen
cil sketches to the Tribe while Tribal member Chuck Quenelle
donated two works of art on deer and elk skin. The works by the
two artists were displayed in the Tribal office.
Yesteryears is a look back at Tribal history in five-year
increments through the pages of Smoke Signals.

Tribal Elders are regularly seeking donations for their fundraising ga
rage sales. To donate an item or items, call Tribal Elder Linda Brandon

Restoration Committee
seeks historic photos
The Tribe's 28th Restoration Celebration Committee is seeking historic
photos of past Tribal celebrations held at the recently purchased Grand
Ronde Middle School and photos of Tribal members, family members
and community members who have walked on since the last Restoration
celebration on Nov. 22, 2010.
The photos will be used for a commemorative slideshow to be shown
during the 28th Restoration Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the gym
of the former middle school.
Submit photos to newsgrandronde.org or call the Tribe's Publications
Department at 503-879-1463 for more information. Please include full name
of the person who has walked on, as well as date of birth and death.

Restoration group seeks vendors, drums
The Tribe's 28th Restoration Celebration Committee is seeking vendors
for this year's event to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the former Grand
Ronde Middle School gymnasium.
. Vendors will be needed from noon to 9 p.m. Space is limited. Deadline
to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11.
In addition, drum groups are being sought for the Restoration Powwow.
