Members of th Tribe's Natural Resources Division visited Willamette
Falls on Friday, July 29, to harvest lamprey that will be distributed to
Tribal Elders. Division employees had gone out twice before and had
moderate success, but on July 29 they harvested a bunch, said Tribal
Biologist Rebecca McCoun. The last harvest day of the season was July
31. Participating in the harvest were, from left, Tribal member and
Natural Resources Division Manager Michael Wilson, Tribal Fish and
Wildlife Program Manager Kelly Dirksen, Tribal Biological Technician
Lindsay Belonga and McCoun (not pictured).

Sewing classes offered
Beginning sewing classes for Tribal youth are being offered by Tribal
Elder Betty Bly.
Participants will learn the basics of hand sewing and also how to use a
sewing machine. Class size is limited to eight Tribal youth. All materials
will be provided and the class is free.
The project is made possible by a grant from the Tribal Cultural Trust
Board.
Classes began on Thursday, July 7, and will continue through August
on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

PUBLIC NOTICE OPEN FOR COMMENT
Public Notice for Comment on the Grand Ronde Tribe's application
for 2012 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Funding. The Grand Ronde Tribe obtained a LIHEAP grant last year
from the Division of Energy Assistance within the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services. This grant program assists income
eligible Tribal members with energy assistance (utility bills, fire
wood, etc.), crisis energy assistance and weatherization (e.g. furnace
repair, caulking, insulation).
The Tribe's LIHEAP service area includes Polk, Yamhill, Marion,
Multnomah, Washington, Tillamook and Clackamas counties. If
you are interested in obtaining services from the current program,
please contact Social Services at 800-242-8196 for energy assistance
and the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority at 503-879-2405 for
weatherization.
The Tribe is taking public comment on the 2012 LIHEAP applica
tion and plan, which are to be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011. The latest
draft will be available for review at the Planning & Grants Develop
ment Department at the Tribal Governance Center starting Aug.
16, 2011. It also will be available at the Housing Authority booth at
the powwow starting Aug. 19, 2011. You also may call the Planning

plan or to obtain more information about the plan. D
Eugene office hosting
OSU nutrition class
Tribal members who want to stretch their food budget and learn
how to purchase more nutritious foods for less money can register
for an Oregon State University Extension Service nutrition class
being offered at the Eugene satellite office, 711 Country Club Road,
Suite 1A.
Space is limited to the first 12 people who register. Attendees will
get a nutritious meal with their lesson.
Classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday beginning Sept. 8 and
continue through the end of the month.

To Apply For The Temporary Staffing Pool
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Temporary
Staffing Pool is accepting applications.
Tribal members, descendants, spouses of Tribal members,
parents of a Tribal member, and legal guardians of Grand
Ronde Tribal member children interested in assisting with
filling temporary vacancies on an "on-call" or an "extended
duration" basis are encouraged to contact the CTGR
Human Resources office. Employment applications are
available at the Human Resources office located in the
Governance Center, 9615 Grand Ronde Road.

Tribal membership
Drug screen
Temporary employees will be subject to the CTGR's
Employee Handbook.
