Gates Millennium Scholarship The 2011 Gates Millennium Scholarship application process is now open. Each year 1,000 students receive a Gates Millennium Scholarship to cover 100 percent of their unmet need for the college of their choice. Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply: Are African American, American IndianAlaska Native, Asian Pacific Is lander American or Hispanic American; Have at least a 3.3 high school GPA at time of application, or have earned a GED; Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university in the fall of 20 1 1 as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student (with the exception of students pursuing a high school diploma while concurrently enrolled). First-time college enrollees can also be GED recipients; Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities; Meet the federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) requires by law that all secu rity professionals working in Oregon must complete Unarmed Basic Security Training, a 12-hour course that is eligible for funding assistance through the CTGR Noncredit Program. All Oregon security professionals must be certified and must pass a criminal background check that can take anywhere from three weeks to three months. The certification fee and background check costs $100 and are not eligible for Noncredit Program funding. All participants must: Be at least 18 years of age; Be fingerprinted; Have no disqualifying criminal history or mental ill ness; . . OSAC administers more than 400 scholarships through their single application for Oregon students.
