The U.S. Forest Service and the South Santiam Watershed Council are
offering backpacking trips to families who want to learn more about
the Willamette National Forest All experience levels arc welcome. The
trips focus on learning Leave No Trace backpacking principles and
teach everything from how to pick a camp site and set up a tent to how
to use a compass and identify some local plants.
Trips are limited to 10 participants. Backpacks, tents, camping stoves,
sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and water filters are available for use at no
charge. You must provide your own food and wear appropriate back
packing clothing. The trips are appropriate for ages 8 and above. ,

Reibach releasing single to benefit

Reibach will release th new single "Live As On" on Friday, July 9, and
will donate 50 percent of sales' proceeds to the Boys and Girls Clubs of
America.
Reibach, who was named Artist of the Year at th 2009 Native American
Music Awards, said the lyrics to the song came to him in a dream.
"My label, family and I feel it is the most beautiful song that I've ever
been blessed to write," Reibach said. The song is about unity, living to
gether in harmony and recognizing that we are all related. It is by far the
most positive song I've ever recorded. This is a beautiful children's choir
singing with me at the end."
Reibach, who is working in conjunction with Orca Moon Music in Seattle
and Spirit Wind Records in New York, will debut "Live As One" on the Na
tive Trailblazers BlogTalkRadio show at 4 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, July
9. The show can be found at www.bIogtalkradio.comnativetrailblazers.
In addition, "Live As One" will be sold on iTunes and will be available
for purchase following the show at most popular digital download sites.
Reibach said the rock ballad is a song created for the benefit of the
world's children.
"This is a song for them," he said. "We can make a difference in this
world, all of us, together."
Produced by Keith Sommers, "Live As One" is being hailed as Reibach's
best work to date.
"This is a song that the whole world will enjoy. It's simply beautiful,"
said Betti Johnson, president of Orca Moon.
" MM' did it again. This song is incredible. He has committed so much of
his life to promoting healing through music and Native culture. What an
inspiration. What a beautiful song," said Donald Blackfox, chief executive
officer of Spirit Wind Records.
In addition, Reibach said he is offering the song to the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde for whatever use the Tribe deems appropriate.
"Its message is for all people," he said. "Native and non-Native alike." B

Caged Combat
Tribal members Jake McKnight and Denny Linton will be featured fight
ers during Caged Combat at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Spirit Mountain
Casino.
Linton will be making his professional debut during the event while McK
night, the Tribe's Forest Patrol Officer, will battle Damaso Pereiro for the
Pro Superfight title.
Tickets start at $15 and top out at $75.
