Tribal Elder Genevieve Mildred
Johnson, 82, walked on March 28,
2009.
She was born July 31, 1926, and
was a resident of Toledo, Wash. She
worked at the Vancouver Barracks
during World War II as a beautician.
Until the age of 70, she worked as an
in-home caregiver.
She was a beautiful lady that we
will all remember. All that met her
loved her.
She was baptized as a member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2008, and she
was overjoyed.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy Brumfield and Patricia
Long; grandchildren Roy Varner, Patrick Varner, Alfred Wight Jr.,
Jennifer Varner and Kaylee Varner; and great-grandchildren Chris
topher Varner, Justin Varner, Joshua Varner, Katie Varner and
Bryanna, Roy and Monica Varner and Richard and Levi Wight.
Services were held on April 7 at the Winlock-Toledo Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and inurnment occurred at the
Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Cemetery in Grand Ronde,
Ore. Services were under the direction of Cattermole Funeral Home
of Winlock, Wash.
Transportation to Grand Ronde
The Portland satellite office has a transportation day to Grand Ronde
once a month for medical or dental appointments or enrollment cards. A
minimum of three people must sign up. Call Lisa at 503-235-4230.
We will leave the Portland office at 8 a.m.
