Summer internships for
high school students
The Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Program matches
high school students interested in the sciences with mentors for an eight
week paid summer internship. CMOP internships provide a $1,000 stipend to
the student, as well as an experience that will provide professional training
and looks great on college and job applications. Students from low-income
families (qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program) will receive
a $2,000 stipend.
We are seeking Native American high school students for four summer
internship positions with the Center for Coastal Margin Prediction and Ob
servation (CMOP). There are four positions: Carbon Cycling in the Columbia
River Estuary, Environmental Sensor Development, Internship in Ocean
Observatories and Remediation of Environmental Contaminants.
Students must submit a preliminary application form, two letters of rec
ommendation from adults, a copy of their official school transcripts, an essay
targeted for their desired positions (up to three positions), a final application
form and a $25 application fee.
The application fee is waived for all students who qualify for federal free or
reduced lunches. For more information on how to apply, visit the ASE Web
site www.saturdayacademy.orgAS EStudentInfoHowToApplytabid7 1De-fault.aspx.
