Summer internships for high school students The Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Program matches high school students interested in the sciences with mentors for an eight week paid summer internship. CMOP internships provide a $1,000 stipend to the student, as well as an experience that will provide professional training and looks great on college and job applications. Students from low-income families (qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program) will receive a $2,000 stipend. We are seeking Native American high school students for four summer internship positions with the Center for Coastal Margin Prediction and Ob servation (CMOP). There are four positions: Carbon Cycling in the Columbia River Estuary, Environmental Sensor Development, Internship in Ocean Observatories and Remediation of Environmental Contaminants. Students must submit a preliminary application form, two letters of rec ommendation from adults, a copy of their official school transcripts, an essay targeted for their desired positions (up to three positions), a final application form and a $25 application fee. The application fee is waived for all students who qualify for federal free or reduced lunches. Summer Theme Program: Get Creative at your Library! for grades K - 5 and Express Yourself at Your Library for grades 6 12. Program starts the week of June 15 and ends the last week in July. The seven-week program's activities will include games, printmaking, drawing, making cool stuff, music, nature crafts, stories and a photo contest. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays 2 3 p.m. for youth in grades K-5 and will be held on Tuesdays from 67 p.m. for youth in grades 6 12.
