Smoke Signals 13
By Daniel Ham
Elder Activity assistant
Craft days this month have been getting busier with more partici
pation. All Tribal Elders are encouraged to participate.
The Elders are currently working on loom beading and sewing.
Donations of beads and looms would be greatly appreciated for the
Elders' use.
On June 13, the Elders plan on attending Paddle on the Willamette
events and to support the Tribal Canoe Journey participants.
Elder Honor Day will be held Friday, July 10, at Spirit Mountain
Casino in the new Events Center. The Elders are still accepting
donations for giveaways and bingo prizes.
Mother's Day was postponed this year and will be combined with
the Father's Day Event. The date is Friday, June 19, at the Elders'
Activity Center. Keep an eye out for details in your monthly Elder
newsletter.
As usual, this event follows the same guidelines for all Elder
events. D

USDA food distribution
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Social Services Department
has been meeting with the USDA program from the Siletz Tribe.
In an attempt to provide better service and meet the specific indi
vidual needs of Tribal members, our department is asking if Tribal
members have an interest in receiving USDA distribution of food here
at a local distribution center in Grand Ronde.
We would like to know if there are enough Tribal members to measure
the interest of delivery of USDA once each month.
Please contact our Social Services office if you feel you are eligible
for program and would utilize it here at Grand Ronde.
We will need your name and address to meet program guidelines.
Please contact Social Services at 503-879-2034 or 1-800-242-8196. D
