Cleaning and Detailing of Tribal Vehicles
For The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
Procurement Department
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is requesting propos
als for the interior and exterior cleaning and detailing of Tribally
owned and leased vehicles. The vehicle cleaning and detailing is
required to be performed on weekends at the Tribal headquarters
and completed by 8 a.m. on the following Monday.
Interested persons wishing to be considered for the above work,
please request a proposal packet from:

Proposals must be received at the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde, Procurement Department before 4 p.m. May 18, 2009. Pro
posals must be received by the established deadline. Those received
after the deadline will not be considered. Proposals submitted by
fax will not be accepted.
All proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope labeled
"Response to RFP for Cleaning and Detailing of Tribal Vehicles."
The Tribe reserves the right to select the proposal(s) that are in
the best interest of the Tribe. The Tribe also reserves the right to
reject andor all proposals, if such action is deemed to be in the best
interest of the Tribe.

queens. I am very proud of my
family, most of whom are still
active in the National Indian
Rodeo, and give thanks to my
ancestors, 'the horse people'

"I am a Traditional dancer and
Elder who earns honor at the grand
entry of the powwow line. Enter
ing the Great Circle fills you with
strength; and the beautiful regalia
of peoples, personalities and crea
tures is like a flashing rainbow
before your eyes.
"My hat is a replica made by
many coastal Tribes and shows the
story of our Tribe's basket lady. It
is cedar-covered with tiger shells,
cowries, little white clamshells,
abalone shells and dentiliums that
were once used as wampum."
Since 1988, the Marras have
crisscrossed the nation to document
the dance regalia worn at Native
American powwows. At each pow
wow, Ben invites participants into
his improvised studio to be photo
graphed in full traditional dress,
while Linda records the stories
behind their outfits and dance.

social occasions with handsome

Garden and food classes available
Grand Ronde Community Resource Center is now accepting applica
tions for Community Garden plots. The Community Garden will open
May 1. Income eligibility guidelines will apply. For more information

Food Preservation and Education classes start the end of June and

Elder Activity assistant
This last month, Elders attended another Honor Day.
On April 7, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz invited Tribes from
Oregon, Washington and Idaho to Chinook Winds for their annual
Honor Day. Grand Ronde was well-represented. We would like to
make special mention of Tony Selwyn, husband of Tribal Elder
Marcella Selwyn. As many of you know, Tony has been through
a lot lately and still managed to make it to the Honor Day. Our
thoughts and prayers are with you, Tony.
Our Honor Day is coming up July 10th and we hope for a good
turnout.
Another Elder we would like to mention is Linda LaChance,
wife of the late Gary LaChance. Linda puts in many long hours
of her time volunteering at fundraisers and Elder activities. We
can always count on Linda to pitch in. Thank you, Linda. Our
most recent effort was at April's General Council meeting. It was
a success and we thank everyone who participated.
There is plenty to do around the Elders' Activity Center for El
ders who want to get involved. We encourage any Tribal Elder to
contact us at 503-879-2233 to volunteer. Some of our "irons in the
fire" are quilting, raised-bed gardens, bake sales, getting ready
for Honor Day and Mother's Day Tea.
Congratulations to Gladys Hobbs, our newest addition to the
Elders Committee. She will be taking over the duties of chairperson.
