Reeds receive academic honors
The son and daughter of Tribal member
Ron Reed Sr. and his wife, Jodee, recently
receive academic honors.
Tribal member Katlin Reed, 12, was
honored for an essay she wrote for her
sixth-grade class about Oregon State Uni
versity Professor Jane Lubchenco, who
was recently named by President Barack
Obama to head the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration.
Katlin earned a first-place honor at the
Oregon State University Womens' Engi
neering Society Banquet held in Corvallis.
She received an awards certificate and $75 cash prize.
Ron Reed Jr., an eighth-grader at Glide Middle School, was hon
ored at the Glide School
District School Board meet
ing and presented with the
ESPEY (Exceptional School
Performance of the Year)
Award. He also excelled
scholastically by being on
the school's honor roll for all
three quarters.
Katlin and Ron Jr. are
the grandchildren of Tribal
Elder Iva Fuller.

Lane Family reunion
The "LANE FAMILY" is holding a family reunion on Saturday, June
27, on Government Hill at the Community Center in Siletz. We
would love to see anyone and everyone that is, was or about to
be a Lane. This includes all extended family, friends, spouses,

The Fish and Wildlife Department of The Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde, in cooperation with Oregon Youth Conservation
Corps, is seeking two fish and wildlife internsyouth crew leaders
for its Summer Youth Crew program. This is a great opportunity
to obtain supervisory experience and practice hands-on natural
resource management techniques.
F&W InternYouth Crew Leader
$10.50-$13.00hour. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
approximately 15 weeks, starting June 12
Duties: Supervise and provide leadership to an eight-person
summer youth work crew for up to eight weeks and assist the
Fish and Wildlife Department for approximately six weeks. Proj
ects may include stream and riparian restorationenhancement,
trail maintenance and construction, Native vegetation planting,
habitat enhancement monitoring, and other natural resource and
community projects.
Qualifications: Desire to work with youth andor in natural
resources. Must be in good physical condition and be able to work
in rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in the proper use of hand
tools. Good communication skills.
Requirements: Work boots, valid driver's license, safe driving
record. Must successfully complete pre-employment background
check and drug test. Week-long leadership training provided. First
aid and CPR training provided.
Work location: Natural Resources Office, Grand Ronde. Grand
Ronde is located in the foothills of the Coast Range approximately
30 miles northwest of Salem, 25 miles southwest of McMinnville,
or 50 miles north of Corvallis.

apply for the Oregon College of Art & Craft's Journeys in Creativity sum
mer art camp program.
The camp is free and specifically tailored for Native American teens who
are thinking about art, art school or an art profession.

ment, trail and park maintenance, Native tree planting, forest inven
tory work or other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Must be 16-19 years of age. Must have the ability
or experience to safely and properly use hand tools. Must be in good
physical condition and be able to work in rugged outdoor terrain.
Interest or experience in natural resources related work helpful.
Requirements: Furnish own work boots and successfully com
plete pre-employment background check and drug test.
