College Scholarships
Applications for Fall Term Chemeketa Foundation Scholarships will
be available Aug. 18-29, 2008. For more information and an application,

Activity sponsorship for children
Early Childhood Education is now offering activity sponsorship for
preschool-age children involved in any recreation or educational pro
gram for up to $200 per year. Please contact Sandy Bobb at 503-879-2161
for an application and for any questions you may have.

The Tribal Library is open to Tribal member and local community
member use. There is no charge to get a library card. Applicants must
provide verification of Tribal membership or proof of local residence
to be issued a card. 1010 cards have been issued and there are 999
current card holders. Of the current library card holders, 605 have
been issued to Tribal members and 394 to local community members
and or faculty members. Only approximately 50 percent of card hold
ers are active library patrons.
The collection holdings now stand at approximately 8,500 items.
Collection holdings include a significant American Indian collection
with more than 1,000 items; approximately 20 percent of the collec
tion is media material; approximately 28 percent of the collection is
children & young adult books and materials; and the remainder of
the collection is adult fiction & non-fiction. The collection holdings
have an approximate value of $125,000.

Homework center for youth
The Tribal Library accepts donations of books and media material.
We ask that items be clean and not damaged. The library is not ac
cepting paperback books due to limited shelf space. A large percent
age of the collection holdings have been donated to the library. We
appreciate the generosity of our library contributors.
Please visit the Tribal Library. I am sure you will find something
here that is of interest. If not, we welcome recommendations you
might have for additions to the collection and attempt to purchase
items that have been recommended by our patrons.

grant funders for your part in making the Tribal Library such a huge
success in our small community!
Linfield Portland Campus
Nursing Scholarships
Applications are available for the Ayudando Podemos Scholarship. This
scholarship supports students from underrepresented populations prepare
for the nursing workforce. Linfield Good Samaritan School of Nursing will
be making awards to students currently taking their nursing prerequisite
at any Oregon college. For more information and an application, contact

The workshops will be taught by Northwest Computer Learning Center
and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the computer lab in the Adult Educa
tion Building.
Cost for a workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can apply to
the Noncredit Program (formally Short Term Training) for assistance with
registration costs. Space is limited to the first 15 who register.
