Third annual Native American
Housing to Homeownership Fair
Join us in Portland for the third annual Native American Housing
to Homeownership Fair, Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m. -3 p.m. This year
we're excited to announce we're hosting the fair here at NAYA Family
Center for the first time!
This day-long family event features fun, informative workshops on
affordable housing, homeownership and specific resources for the Na
tive community, including the Section 184 Indian Home Loan.
Meet staff from local banks, nonprofit affordable housing and hom
eownership organizations, and Realtors. Enter a drawing for a Down
Payment Assistance Grant of $2,500 and eat a delicious lunch by Tawna
Sanchez and Co.'s "Daybreak to Dinner" all for FREE!

The Tribe's Cultural Education Department has scheduled the following
classes for July:
Grand Ronde: Woven canoe cushions, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17,
in the Youth Education Building. RSVP required.
Eugene: Chinuk Wawa classes are ongoing on Thursdays. Beginning Regalia
will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and participants need
to sign up with Cultural Education Specialist Misty Thorsgard.
Portland: Chinuk Wawa classes are ongoing on Wednesdays, as are
Carving classes. Beginning Regalia will be offered 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mon
day, July 21, and Moccasin Class will be offered 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday,
July 22 and 29. Participants for the regalia and moccasin classes need to
sign up with Thorsgard in advance.

Damage Overdose, War Cry, Thorns of Creation and Stonecreep will
perform a heavy metal concert fundraiser for the local food bank at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Tribal gymnasium.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and cost of admission is $5 or a donation of
canned goods.
Organizers say this is an all-ages show that is also an alcohol- and
drug-free event.
