Nicholas L.L. Faas
Jan. 30, 1984 May 13, 2008
Nicholas Faas, 24, was born on Jan. 30,
1984, in Roseburg, Ore., to Kathy Cole and
Robert Faas. He passed away on May 13,
2008, after being involved in a car accident.
Nick, as he was known to friends and family,
is the son of Kathy Cole, and wonderful older
brother to Zach, Chris and Gabe Edwards.
Nick is a descendant of the Petite fam
ily and the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde. He was extremely proud of his
Native heritage, and was a member of the
Grand RondeChinook Canoe Family.
Education was very important to Nick.
He was a graduate of Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, Wash.,
and the Umpqua Community College EMT Program.
Nick currently was a senior at Oregon State University majoring
in philosophy, and planning on attending the Sapsik'wala Master's
in Teaching Education at the University of Oregon next year.
Nick's passion for education and youth led him to work as a college
intern for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Youth Educa
tion Program for the last two years. He made a dramatic impact on
the lives of youth with his charismatic and youthful spirit.
He loved to play basketball, video games and watch Oakland
Raiders football games with his brothers. Nick also loved to golf and
hang out with his friends.
Nick was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, mentor and friend to
many. His presence in people's lives was immense and the imprint
he left on their hearts will last for eternity.
Survivors include his mother of Dallas; father of Roseburg; broth
ers, Zach, Chris and Gabe Edwards of Dallas; grandfather, Larry
Cole of Glide; siblings, Kay, Penny and Robert of Oregon; aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Services were held May 20 at the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde gym and burial followed at the Tribal Cemetery on Grand
Ronde Road. A meal was served following services at the Tribal
Community Center.
The Nicholas Faas Memorial account has been set up at Bank of
America to help the family with expenses. Contributions would be
greatly appreciated.
Arrangements were handled by Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
