The Natural Resources Department of The Confederated Tribes of
Grand Ronde, in cooperation with Oregon Youth Conservation Corps,
seeks 16 youth crew members for its Summer Youth Crew program.
These positions are designed and funded for the purpose of providing
enhanced opportunities for youth andor students.
Youth Crew Member
$8hour
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
approximately 8 weeks starting July 7, 2008
Duties: Work as a member of an eight-person summer youth work
crew. Youth crew projects may include stream restorationenhance
ment, trail and park maintenance, native tree plantings, forest inven
tory work, or other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Must be 16-19 years of age. Must have the ability
or experience to safely and properly use hand tools. Must be in good
physical condition and be able to work in rugged outdoor terrain.
Interest or experience in natural resources related work helpful .
Requirements: Furnish own work boots and successfully complete
pre-employment background check and drug test.

Tribal Elder and Vietnam veteran Steve Rife will
recreate his 2007 Walk of Tears beginning June 28
and culminating at Veterans' Powwow on July 11.
To help fund the 265-mile walk, Rife will be holding
Indian taco fundraisers in the Tribal Community Center
at 11 a.m. April 5, 7, 12 and 14. Half of the proceeds will
help fund Walk expenses and the other 50 percent will
go to the Native American Veterans Association.

Corps, is seeking one youth crew supervisor for its Summer Youth
Crew program.
Youth Crew Supervisor
$13-$15hour. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
approximately 17 weeks, starting June 2, 2008
(start date is negotiable)
Duties: Schedule program tasks and activities, purchase crew
supplies and materials, organize campouts, and supervise two
youth crew leaders and associated youth crews for up to ten weeks
and assist the Fish and Wildlife Department with natural resource
projects for approximately six weeks.
Qualifications: Desire to work with youth and in natural re
sources. Must be in good physical condition and be able to work
in rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in the proper use of hand
tools. Good communication and organization skills. Supervisory
experience preferred.
Requirements: Work boots, valid driver's license, safe driving
record. Must successfully complete pre-employment background
check and drug test. Week-long leadership training provided. First
aid and CPR training provided.
Work Location: Natural Resources Office, Grand Ronde.

to obtain supervisory experience and practice hands-on natural
resource management techniques.
F&W InternYouth Crew Leader
$10.50-$13hour. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
approximately 15 weeks, starting June 16, 2008
Duties: Supervise and provide leadership to an eight-person sum
mer youth work crew for up to eight weeks and assist the Fish and
Wildlife Department for approximately six weeks. Projects may include
stream and riparian restorationenhancement, trail maintenance and
construction, native vegetation plantings, habitat enhancement moni
toring, and other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Desire to work with youth andor in natural re
sources. Must be in good physical condition and be able to work in
rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in the proper use of hand tools.
