Royalty events
gearing up in March
A sure sign of spring's arrival on the Tribal campus is the beginning of
Royalty events. This March is no different with four events scheduled.
They include:
6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1 All Royalty Potluck and Forum in the
Tribal Community Center. The event will honor Josie Faris, the Tribe's
new Senior Miss Grand Ronde.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 7 5050 raffle fundraiser for Project
Linus in the Governance Center lobby.
11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, March 24 Project Linus Community
Blanket Giveaway at the Clothes Closet.
Noon to 2 p.m. Monday, March 31 Indian taco fundraiser at the Com
munity Center.

Tribal Elder and Vietnam veteran Steve Rife will recreate his 2007
Walk of Tears beginning June 28 and culminating at Veterans Powwow
on July 11.
To help fund the 265-mile walk, Rife will be holding Indian taco fundrais
ers in the Tribal Community Center at 11 a.m. April 5, 7, 12 and 14.
Half of the proceeds will help fund Walk expenses and the other 50
percent will go to the Native American Veterans Association.
In addition, the Grand Ronde Tribal Honor Guard will be at the March
8 Willamette University Social Powwow in Cone Field House at Sparks
Athletic Center in Salem and at the March 15 Florence Indian Education
15th Annual Powwow.

Schools otfffeir free
spiring bread lunches
The Willamina School District will be contracting with Marion-Polk Food
Share and the Grand Ronde Community Resource Center's Food Bank to
provide free lunches to children and adultsparents during spring break.
The meals will be served from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Willamina Middle
School, 8720 Grand Ronde Road, beginning Monday, March 24, and run
ning through Friday, March 28.
There will be daily giveaways of books and other surprises for each child
in attendance. Lunches must be eaten in the school cafeteria.
