"Art" F. Soderberg, 74, of Grand
Ronde, died Sept. 25 at Black Hear
Lodge in Grand Ronde.
Mr. Soderberg was born Feb. 1,
1933, in Willamina to William Joseph
and Clarinda (Quenelle) Soderberg.
I le spent his boyhood in Grand Ronde.
I le graduated from grade school at St.
Mary's Home for Hoys and from high
school at Mount Angel Preparatory
in 1951.
While in the military, he married
Darlene Fish. They later divorced.
After serving in the military, he worked as a cross-country truck
driver. He lived in Portland and Grand Ronde.
"Art had many friends, was loved by his family and will be missed
by all," family members said.
Survivors include a son, Butch, of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Kim
Mitchell of Fairview; brother, Tribal Council member Wink Soderberg
of Grand Ronde; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Oct. 1 at the Confederated Tribes Cemetery in
Grand Ronde. The Rev. David Briedwell officiated.
Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

performs "Dream Warrior" on a vertical double flute at the ninth
annual Native American Music Awards show held Oct. 6 at the
Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Reibach was up
for three awards, but did not win in any of the categories. "It was my
emersion as a national artist," Reibach said of his live performance
with Grammy Award-winning producer George Noriega. "We
rocked. It was like an acoustic rock opera ... very aggressive and
contemporary." Grand Ronde Tribal Council member Valorie Sheker,
inset photo, introduced Reibach before he performed for the 2,1 00
people who attended. Reibach said he has already been invited to
perform at next year's awards show and is planning on recording
an album with Noriega this winter. "I had a great time," he said.
Reibach also has received a nomination for best traditional flute
recording from the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and has been
invited to perform at the Nov. 30 awards show in Toronto, Canada.
All Elders are encouraged to put on their
best costume and brin their favorite dich.
