Pow-wow Footage Posted Quickly OnYou(l! Site
It didn't take long for footage of the 2007
Grand Ronde Contest Pow-wow to hit the
Internet.
The Pow-wow, held Aug. 17-19 on the pow
wow arena west of the Governance Center,
showed up on the popular video-sharing Web
site YouTube on Aug. 20.
Eskimodoc posted footage of drums Mountain
Soul, Black Lodge and Blackstone performing.
When checked last week, the videos had been
viewed 57, 49 and 61 times, respectively. .
"Mountain Soul rocked this pow-wow," wrote
one viewer who signed his name as Coyote
medicine2. According to his My Space profile, Eskimodoc
lives in Salem and lists his occupation as a fry
bread taster.
His first name is Louis and he says he is part
Modoc, Paiute and Yupik.
"I love pow-wows," he writes on his MySpace
page. "Also dancing at them. It is the place
where I find my balance in this world. Don't
really know how to describe it. All you dancers
know what I'm talking about though.
"One of these days I'll buy a light bulb and
shed some light on the subject for the rest of
ya'll."
And thanks to Eskimodoc, the audience that
witnessed all or part of this year's Grand Ronde
Contest Pow-wow continues to grow. H
