Serving on Grand Ronde
Royalty enhances the lives
, our Tribal youth girls y
providing leadership and
personal growth activities.
It allows them to serve as
ambassadors pf the Tribe
which provides positive
public relations on behalf of
the Tribe and surrounding
communities. " Jf .
, All contestants for royal-
ty must be enrolled Grand ;
Ronde Tribal members
between 5-18years-of-age.
Because the girls act as a
Tribal representative, it in also a
requirement that they be in good
f standing in school and uphold a
' positive image at all times.
The girls are competing in three
categories, Little .Miss Grand
Rondd, Jr. Miss Grand Ronde, and
Senior Miss Grand Ronde. The
competition consists of two parts;
participation, which is based on a
points system, and the pageant.
Points are earned buy partici
pating at pow-wows, volunteer
ing for fundraisers andspcial
events, and selling raffle tickets
for the Annual Pow-wow. Each
contestant is required to earn a
minimum amount of points to be
eligible to compete in the pageant
competition.
The pageant is held just prior to
the beginning of the Annual Pow
wow on August 17. Each contestant
is judged based on the deliverance
of a speech, a personal interview,
and a dance competition.

j to Grand Entry. The girls will be
crowned and begin their reign

with Grand Entry.
During their time on
Grand Ronde Royalty,
the girls will learn im
portant life skills. They
will travel to pow-wows
and special events and
gain experience in pub
lic speaking. They will
have communications
and interaction with both
Tribal. and non-Tribal
representatives, and will
learn about responsibil
ity, accountability, and
respect for others.
