Tribal Youth Practice For Leadership Conference, Canoe Journey

As part of the Youth Leadership Conference held from
April 12-14, high school, middle school, and grade school
students practiced a traditional Grand Ronde Canoe
Dance in the Tribal gymnasium on Wednesday, April 11.
Members of the Tribal Youth Canoe Family have been
practicing the dance for several months at meetings held
in Grand Ronde. The members of the Grand Ronde Ca
noe Family will participate in the annual Canoe Journey
held in northern Washington this summer. Many Tribal
youth have showed interest in this year's Canoe Journey
by participating in fundraisers, learning the ceremonial
songs and dances, and attending meetings that will help
prepare them for the spiritual and healing event.
