The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program is dedicated to the
support of Native American students pursuing higher education in

Attention Female High School Students
Interested In Math And Science
The CURIE Academy is a one-week summer residential program for
high school girls who excel in math and science, enjoy solving problems,
and want to learn more about careers in engineering. Cornell Uni
versity's world-renowned faculty and graduate students lead academy
participants in classes, lab sessions and project research. Participants
work in teams to solve problems that mirror real-life situations. In
addition, social events, panel discussions and other out-of-classroom
activities provide participants with opportunities to network informally
with each other and Cornell faculty, staff and students.
Primary goals of this program include:
O Exposing girls to the exciting opportunities existing for them in
engineering
n Helping girls understand that women belong and are needed in
the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields BR
Demonstrating the connections between the study of engineering and
solving problems affecting people and society.

Chemeketa Community College
Foundation Scholarships
The Chemeketa Community College Foundation administers several
scholarship programs for Chemeketa students. Interested students will
complete one application form and they will be considered for every scholar
ship for which they are eligible. Applications for the 2007-2008 academic

Humboldt State University Scientific
Leadership Scholars Program
Students in good academic standing in Computer Science, Environmental
Resources Engineering, or Mathematics will receive annual scholarships of
$3623 as a part of their total financial aid package. This scholarship will
reduce the need for student loans or to work while a student. Applicants
will receive assistance with federal financial aid forms (FAFSA) and ap
plications for other sources of funding to supplement scholarship and cover
expenses. Native American students and students that are first generation
to attend the university will be priority applicants. However, any student
that meets the academic standards and financial need requirement will be

Summer 2007 Internships
BPA in partnership with American Science and Engineering Society
(AISES) and Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is offering five student summer
internships. These internships expose Native American college students
to challenging professional experiences and serve as an effective way to
identify top candidates for employment. There will be internships in
Environment, Fish & Wildlife focused on Tribal, fish, wildlife, andor
environmental areas and in Transmission and Power Services focused on
engineering. All interested students are encouraged to apply before March
