Tribal youth Courage Chief Leno
went to heaven on Wednesday, Febru
ary 14, 2007 at the age of 3 weeks. He
was born January 22, 2007 in McMin
nville to Charles "Chad" Leno and
Molly (Rimer) Leno. He is survived
by his parents, Molly and Chad Leno,
brothers; Rowdy Leno, True Rimer, and
Future Rimer, sister; Promise Rimer,
grandparents; Jackie Provost Many r"7 k
Hides and Duane Many Hides, Ron t a, n- - '
Rimer, Donna Holmes, Charles Leno,
Sr., Great Grandmother Margaret Provost, his aunts and uncles;
Camille Mercier, Buckskin and Nita Holmes, Steven and Margaret
Holmes, Dennis Holmes, Kathy Holmes, Claudine Holmes, and many
cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his uncle
Kenneth Holmes.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the
Grand Ronde Tribal Gymnasium with burial following at the Grand
Ronde Tribal Cemetery.

Mabel C. Gaston
May 20, 1911 - February 15, 2007
Tribal Elder Mabel Gaston was
born May 20, 191 1 in Grand Ronde.
Her parents were John and Dol
lie Pichette. She had two sisters,
Florence and Victoria and four
brothers, David, Oren, Earl and
John, all who have preceded her in
death. She married Ernest Gaston
in Madras, Oregon in 1935. She
had two children, son Richard who
lives in Spokane Washington with
wife Christina and daughter Elaine
Smith who preceded her in death in
2001. She has three grandchildren, Teresa Bailey and husband Jerry
of Grand Ronde, Tammy Garrison of Corvallis, and Bryon Gaston
and his wife Catherine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She has seven
great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews who all adored her.
Mabel and Ernie were happily married until his passing in 1973.
They loved to go campi ng , hunting and fishing. Some of the times she
would bag the biggest buck with her trusty old "44" caliber rifle and
would tease Ernie who took it like a good sport.She also liked to take
her dog and go fishing down at the creek behind her home.
She was very proud to serve on the Enrollment Committee for the
Tribe. She enjoyed going to the meal site for lunch and visiting her
friends and liked going to dinner at the Casino on Monday nights. She
especially enjoyed going on the Elders trips with her friends.
Her family and friends will miss her very much, She is home now
with the lord.

TRIBAL SALVAGE LOGGER OPPORTUNITY
The Natural Resources Division (N.D.) would like to notify all Tribal
members whom are interested in logging small sales of Tribal Salvage
timber that applications are available for the Tribal Salvage Logger list.
Interested members must first obtain and submit an application to be
considered by the Timber Committee to be placed on the Tribal Salvage
Logger list. If you are a Tribal member and are interested in receiving
notices about small sales of timber, please contact the Natural Resources
Office obtain an application form. The Natural Resources Division Office
is located at 47010 S.W. Hebo Road, P.O. Box 10, Grand Ronde, Oregon
97347. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
2. Have recent logging experience with verifiable references.
3. Own or have the ability to obtain adequate logging equipment.
4. Have the ability to obtain insurance and have the financial ability to
submit cash payments for timber and other contractual payments.

Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority
The Northwest Indian Housing Association (NWIHA) annually
provides scholarships to Tribal youth, defined as Tribal members age
24 years old or younger. The intent of the scholarship is to provide
financial awards to youth for education and training programs at col
leges. Traditionally individual awards have not exceeded $1,000.
Applications are available by contacting the Grand Ronde Tribal
Housing Authority at 503-879-2401 or 1-800-422-0232 ext. 2401.

IT'S A POSTER CONTEST!
It's time for the AMERIND Risk Management Corporation,
2007 National Fire and Home Safety Poster Contest, for children
currently in grades K through 8 (only one entry per child).
All posters entered are to illustrate a fire safety theme, and
must be originals created by the child in crayon, markers
or paint, drawn horizontally on 8.5" x 11" paper (no pencils,
please).
This year's winner of the poster contest will receive a $2,000
savings bond in his or her name.
Entry forms are available through the Grand Ronde Tribal
Housing Authority office, at 28450 Tyee Road, Grand Ronde,

All AMERIND Poster Contest entries must be submitted
