Scholarships for Native American Students
Catching the Dream offers 220 scholarships this year to Native col
lege students in the U. S. Students must have outstanding academic
records, test scores and leadership abilities. They must submit an
essay, three letters of recommendation, high school transcripts and
ACT or SAT test scores. They must also seek and apply for all other
sources of funds, including private scholarships. Applicants should

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Scholarship Application

This is available to any and all Native Americans interested
in pursuing a health profession or to those individuals that
counsel students on career and educational opportunities.

Internship Opportunities
The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is now
accepting applications for internships. This is a great opportunity to gain
work experience with the following agencies: U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs, NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center, National Science Foundation,
U.S. Department of Commerce, Bonneville Power Administration, and the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Visit the AISES website for

The Organization for Tropical Studies has an undergraduate research
program specifically for Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. Students
will spend 8 weeks in Costa Rica learning tropical biology, meeting with
indigenous communities from Costa Rica, and doing research projects. All
travel and living expenses are covered. Students get an additional stipend
of $3000 and get to work with experienced research mentors. The program
will host 15 students. Students majoring in biology, natural resources,
environmental sciences, anthropology, and sociology are encouraged to
apply. Application deadline is February 15, 2007. Interested students

The workshops will be taught by Northwest Computer Learning Center
and will run from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the computer lab in the Adult Education
Building. Cost for a workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can apply
to the Short-Term Training program for assistance with registration costs.
Space is limited to the first 15 who register.
