Dear Editor,
I love reading the articles about the Tribal Elders, particularly the one
about Dale Langley. I graduated from the old Grand Ronde Grade School
with Dale in 1946 and can attest to the fact that he was into horses those
days because he put me astride when he was riding bareback and I fell
off. Ten tries later, battered and bruised, he recovered from his laughing,
he finally told me the secret to staying on.
Those were truly the good ol' days.

Smoke Signals Reaches Across The World
Cover Shot Even halfway across the world, Chris and Bryan Mercier still
have Grand Ronde on their minds. The Mercier brothers attended the World
Cup soccer match between the U.S. and the Czech Republic in Gelsenkirchen,
Germany, on Monday, June 1 2. The stadium is one of the newest in Germany,
with a capacity of nearly 70,000. The Czechs won, 3-0.
