Achievement & Recognition
Awards To Be Held On June 24
The Education Division and Education Committee would like to
invite you to our Annual Honor and Recognition Award Ceremony
(Brunch).
Saturday, June 24, 2006
10 a.m.-l p.m.
Achievement & Recognition awards for students in grades K-12
will be announced. Tribal graduates and Education Scholarship
recipients will be recognized. Please notify the Education Division
by Friday, June 9 of Tribal graduate names and graduating class
information so they can be included in the program of events. Ev
eryone is welcome to attend. Please bring your family and friends
and join us for this wonderful gathering to celebrate the CTGR
Tribal members' achievements.
R.S.V.P. by Friday, June 9 is appreciated in order to estimate
the number of people who will attend the ceremony. Please contact

Grand Ronde HeadStart
Recruitment runs from April-July. This announcement is for children
who are three years old by September 1, 2006 to children who are five
years old (pre-kindergarten) and income eligible. Our first day of school is
September 5, 2006. Please call Sandy Bobb at 503-879-2161 for an applica
tion or if you have any questions. Selection and notification will be made
by mid-August and you will be notified if your child has been accepted or
declined. Children with special needs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Transportation may be provided.

The workshops will be taught by Northwest Computer Learning Center
and will run from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the computer lab in the Adult Education
Building. Cost for a workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can
apply to the Short Term Training program for assistance with registration
costs. Space is limited to the first 15 who register.

Attention: High School Juniors
(Entering Seniors for fall 2006)
If you think you may be attending college, it is a really good
idea to take the SAT or ACT test (college entrance exams) in June
2006 because your math and grammar concepts are still fresh in
your brain and the rush of deadlines for high school seniors are
still a summer away. If you are not satisfied with scores from
the June test you will have time to re-take the test in September
or October 2006.

Attention All Higher Education and
Adult Vocational Training Students:
If you will be a new or returning student Fall 2006, don't forget to apply for
the 2006-2007 Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA). Applications are
available online at http:www.fafsa.ed.gov and at any college, university, or
library. It is a requirement for all Higher Education and Adult Vocational
Training Program students to apply for the FAFSA each year.
Remember, never pay to have a FAFSA completed or submitted! It is
free. If you need help filling out your FAFSA, please contact your financial

American Indian Science &
Engineering Society Scholarships
AISES is now accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate
students in the following categories: General Motors Engineering Scholarship;
Henry Rodriquez Reclamation College Scholarship & Internship; AT. Anderson
Memorial Scholarship; and EPA Tribal Lands Environmental Science Scholar
ship. Application deadline is June 15 for all categories. For more information,

Library Hours: Library hours will change in June 2006. Flyers
will be posted in the Tribal Library and other campus buildings.
Please join me in welcoming Sheila Svela to the Tribal Library
staff. Sheila accepted the Library Aide position in May. Sheila will
. be working in the Library on Saturdays.
The Tribal Library has added 154 titles to the collection during
the months of April and May that includes over one hundred books,
thirty eight films and twenty audio books.
The Tribal Library's Summer Reading Incentive Program begins
Monday, June 5 and ends on Friday, August 1 1. This program is for
children and youth ages 4-17. Registration packets are available
at the Library. Participants can win prizes for time spent reading
each week and will be eligible to enter their name into a drawing
each time they read a complete book at their reading level. Please
contact the Tribal Library for a registration packet.
The Tribal Library will support the Regional Library's Summer
Reading Program, "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" this year. Story
and activities will focus on the theme so will be about animals and
or pets this year and will be held on Thursday from 3-4 p.m. for
children in grades K 5.
The Tribal Library is gathering suggestions about what other time
to offer the monthly Poetry Recital Reading sessions. Please call
in your suggestions or bring your suggestions to the next session
scheduled on June 14th at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday activity for children in grade K-3 will be at noon on
June 24.
Book Club will meet on Saturday, June 10 at 12-1 p.m. and June
27 at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. New book club theme is Native American
Fiction.
