Native American Applicants
Sought For Hatfield Fellowship
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde announce that applications
for the Mark O. Hatfield Congressional Fellowship are now available.
Each year, a Hatfield Fellow serves as an intern for a member of Oregon's
Congressional delegation.
The Hatfield Fellow is selected from adult Native American applicants, who
are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe in Oregon. If there are
no qualified applicants from Oregon, enrolled members of federally recognized
Tribes in Washington, Idaho and Montana will be considered.
The Fellow will intern in Washington, D.C. for nine months and will re
ceive a monthly stipend, relocation and travel expenses and tuition for the
American Political Science Association orientation.
Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. July 14, 2006. Applicants will then be
notified if they qualify for interviews. Late applications will not be accepted.

The Fellowship honors Mark Hatfield for his accomplishments as a United
States Senator, a former Governor of Oregon and for his mentorship of many
leaders in their own communities.
Funding for the Fellowship comes from the Spirit Mountain Community
Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde,
which is committed to honoring their Tribal traditions of sharing and giv
ing back to the community. In addition to funding the fellowship, the Tribe
dedicates six percent of the profits from Spirit Mountain Casino to non-profit
organizations in 11 counties in Western Oregon. Since the fund's beginning
in 1997, over $30 million has been awarded to area non-profits!

The Natural Resources Department of The Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde, in cooperation with Oregon Youth Conservation Corps, seeks 16
youth crew members for its Summer Youth Crew program. These posi
tions are designed and funded for the purpose of providing enhanced
opportunities for youth andor students.
Youth Crew Member
$7.75hour
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Approximately 7 weeks, starting July 6, 2006
Duties: Work as a member of an eight-person summer youth work crew.
Youth crew projects may include stream restorationenhancement, trail and
park maintenance, native tree plantings, forest inventory work or other
natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Must be 16-19 years of age. Must have the ability or
experience to safely and properly use hand tools. Must be in good physical
condition and be able to work in rugged outdoor terrain. Interest or experi
ence in natural resources related work helpful.
Requirements: furnish own work boots and successfully complete
pre-employment background check and drug test.

to 20 tables (one per person); you must supply your own table and
chairs. THIS IS NOT A GARAGE SALE! 10 of all sales will be
donated to the Grand Ronde Tribal Canoe Family.
Community Potluck: 2nd Saturday of the month. Please bring
a dish to feed 10 people, stories to share and a smile.
Genealogy Day: Every Friday at 11:30 a.m.-l:30 p.m., the club
works together on 1 family a month and will have the family featured
on a family tree wall mural.
Elders' lunch and social: Every Monday 12-1 p.m.
