Jana's Kids Native American Pop Star and Lumbee Tribal member Jana entertained
about 1 00 community members on Thursday, March 23 in the Tribal gym. Jana also put
on a performance at the wellness day on Friday and spoke to the students about following
their dreams and maintaining sobriety. Jana also took time after her show on Thursday to

Before the students broke-out for
lunch, Jana put on a performance in
the gymnasium. Jana is a contem
porary artist from North Carolina
and is making herself known in not
only Indian Country but the music
world as well. She has already won
three Nammy awards for Best Pop
Performer, Song of the Year and
Female Artist of the Year and has
climbed her way to the Top 20 Bill
board Music charts with her hit Ooh,
Baby, Baby.
As part of her Jana's Kids orga
nization, Jana also spoke with the
youth on achieving the successes of
their dreams.
"I go around to talk about motivat
ing and empowering the youth," said
Jana. "I like to spread my message
and visiting Grand Ronde has been
a great experience."
After lunch, the students prepared
themselves for a three-on-three
basketball tournament held in the
Tribal gym. The tournament lasted
four hours and the local Bulldog
team when on to claim first prize.

members Eric Sabin and Sharona
Jackson made up the winning Bull
dog team.
After a pizza dinner from Figaro's,
it was time to wrap things up. A
dance, featuring D.J. Reckless,
was scheduled for Friday evening
but was cancelled due to plumbing
problems in the gym.
