Personal Use Firewood
Available On Reservation!
The Natural Resources Division of the Grand Ronde Tribes would
like to announce that two new firewood cutting areas will be open
ing on two weekends in April. The 206 Road and the 212 Road
gates will be opened on April 1st and April 2nd and again on April
8th and April 9th. The 206 Road and the 212 Road border the Elk
Habitat Enhancement Area and are normally closed to motorized
vehicles. Firewood is also available elsewhere on the Reservation,
so call or stop in the Natural Resources Office for more information.
Interested Tribal members may obtain permits from the Natural
Resources Office at 47010 SW Hebo Road (Hwy 22). Firewood per
mits will also be available from our on-site Patrol Officer on the two
weekends that the 206 Road and 212 Road will be open for cutting.
The gates will be opened at 8 a.m. and closed at 4 p.m. each day.
Basic Firewood Cutting Rules:
You must be a Tribal member to obtain a permit. Permits are free
of charge, if the wood is for personal, household use. Commercial
firewood permits are not available at this time.
The Natural Resources Division will issue permits. for up to 5
cords per household per year. Permits and load tickets are issued
one cord at a time (About two pick-up loads)
A Tribal member may designate up to two substitute people (prox
ies) to cut firewood for you, but the Tribal member must obtain and
sign the permit.

The Natural Resources Department of The Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde, in cooperation with Oregon Youth Conservation
Corps, seeks two youth crew leaders and 16 youth crew members
1 for its Summer Youth Crew program. These positions are designed
and funded for the purpose of providing enhanced opportunities for
youth andor students.
Youth Crew Leader F&W Intern
$10.50-$13.00hour. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Approximately 12 weeks, starting June 19, 2006
Duties: Supervise and provide leadership to an eight-person sum
mer youth work crew for eight weeks and assist the Fish and Wildlife
Department for four to six weeks. Projects may include stream and
riparian restorationenhancement, trail and park maintenance and
construction, native vegetation plantings, habitat enhancement
monitoring, and other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Desire to work with youth andor in natural re
sources. Must be in good physical condition and be able to work in
rugged outdoor terrain. Experience in the proper use of hand tools.
Good communication skills
Requirements: work boots, valid driver's license, safe driving
record and must successfully complete pre-employment background
check and drug test.

Youth Crew Member
$7.75hour
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
: Approximately 7 weeks, starting July 6, 2006
Duties: Work as a member of an eight-person summer youth work
crew. Youth crew projects may include stream restorationenhance
ment, trail and park maintenance, native tree plantings, forest inven
tory work or other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Must be 16-19 years of age. Must have the ability
or experience to safely and properly use hand tools. Must be in good
physical condition and be able to work in rugged outdoor terrain.
Interest or experience in natural resources related work helpful.
Requirements: furnish own work boots and successfully complete
pre-employment background check and drug test.
Closing date: Friday, June 9, 2006.

The Tribe's Cultural Resource Department will sponsor a one week
program May 1 5, 2006 for individuals interested in protecting cultural
resources. The course will result in CRT certification. With this certifica
tion, participants may expand their opportunities to competitively apply
for future employment in the Cultural Resource field. Cost is $600 and
includes all program materials.
