2005 Grand Ronde Contest Pow-Wow Insert
Our Elders Rice Living Treasures
Right Grand Ronde Tribal Elder Nora Kimsey was
born and raised in Grand Ronde. She was active in the
Tribe's successful effort to gain recognition accomplished
in 1983. She served as a welder in World War II. At age
96, Kimsey is the oldest living Elder in the Confederated
Tribes Grand Ronde. She has more than 60 grand-and
great-grandchildren. Below Grand Ronde Tribal Elder
Maxine Leno, age 83.

Above Left Grand Ronde Tribal El
der Norma Lee, age 79, was also born
and raised in Grand Ronde. Once a
nurse's aide, she now spends her time
with husband Dale and doing arts and
crafts including beading, crocheting
and making Christmas wreaths for the
holiday seasons. Lee has lived up and
down the Washington Coast, and now
resides in Grand Meadows.
