He has had straight A's on his last report card and played on the school's

Your Chance To Give Bloob
August i; io am to 3 p.m.
Did you know someone in this country needs a blood transfusion
every two seconds? That's more than 43,000 people every day. Your
single donation can help save premature babies, cancer patients,
trauma victims and others who need the gift of life.
Monday, August 1, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde's Health & Wellness Center is sponsoring an
American Red Cross Blood Drive. The Bloodmobile will be located at
the Tribal Community Center.
To schedule an appointment, contact Jill at 503-879-2060.
Ten Reasons to Donate Bloob
10. Cookies, cookies, cookies... and free juice!
9. Blood is something money can't buy and it's something you can
donate whether you're rich or poor. It costs nothing to give, yet for
the person who receives the blood, it is more precious than diamonds.
8. You can lie down on the job or skip out of class early, and nobody
will get upset! The American Red Cross offers blood drives at busi
nesses and schools, so take some time off and donate blood.
7. Donating blood is convenient and easy it takes about an hour
to give the gift of life.
6. Nobody can ask you to do any heavy lifting as long as you wear
your bandage. You can wear it both as a badge of honor and as a
free pass from hard work!
5. You will become someone's hero you may give a newborn, a
child, a mother or a father, a brother or a sister another chance at
life. You may help save up to three lives with just one donation.
4. You will be helping to ensure that blood is there when you, or some
one close to you, may need it. Most people don't think they'll ever
need blood, but many do.
3. Feel good about yourself you'll walk away feeling a little taller
after you donate. Only five percent of the eligible population donates,
so proudly consider yourself a special and unique individual!
2. You have plenty to spare doctors say healthy people may regu
larly give blood.
1. It's the right thing to do.
Grand Ronde Low Income Home
Energy Assistance Program
The Grand Ronde Tribe has obtained a LIHEAP grant to
assist income eligible Tribal members with energy pay
ments, energy emergencies and weatherization. This Low-
Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
is an annual grant from the Division of Energy As
sistance within the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services. Four Tribes in Oregon oper
ate this program and must serve all income eli
gible Indians on their Reservation or trust lands.
Outside of these lands, but within the Tribes ser
vice area, Tribes can only serve households with
adult members of their own Tribe. For LIHEAP,
the Grand Ronde Tribes service area is the
Tribe's typical six-county service area (Polk,
Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington and
Tillamook counties) plus Clackamas County.
Tribal members in these counties must contact
Grand Ronde to receive assistance instead, not the community action agency in
their area. The Tribal program will allow more Tribal members to be assisted
than would otherwise be possible.
There has been a great need for energy assistance especially for weatheriza
tion. For income eligible households the program can provide energy assis
tance (utility bills, fire wood, etc.), crisis energy assistance and weatherization
(e.g. furnace repair).
If you are interested in obtaining services please contact Social Services at 1-800-242-8196
for energy assistance and the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority at
503-879-2405 for weatherization.

Angel Eyes!
When I am there, she is gone.
The reason why I am so sad is because 1 never get to see her.
In my dreams I think of her as an Angel in my eyes, I wish I
could see the Angel in my eyes again.
I think of her, her Angel face, 1 miss her so.
This poem is dedicated to my mom, Janele.

Angel Eyes, part 2
I saw them again. The Angel eyes. Once I saw them I started
to cry. I opened my eyes so I could see and once I did, she
trusted me. I came to her. She came to me. We hugged each
other. Then me and Angel lived happily.
I miss you mom.
