Spirit Mountain Casino hosted a Super Bowl
party in the Bingo Hall. Hall of Fame inductee
Dan Fouts attended and signed autographs
for everyone. Fouts played for the San Diego
Chargers from 1973 to 1987. He went to
college at the University of Oregon and now
resides in Central Oregon. Pictured below is
Tribal member Jesse Robertson as he gets a
football signed by Fouts.

Eugene Satellite Office pens
Continued outreach responds to Tribal members across the state.

The Confederated Tribes of the
Grand Ronde has opened a satel
lite office in Eugene. This follows
the opening last month of a similar
office in Portland.
Tribal member Brenda Tuomi, of
Eugene, led the local effort to find
and lease the 1,200 sq. ft. office
which includes a large entrygath
ering room, a small conference
room, a small computer lab and two
offices. The gathering room will also
double as classroom space.
Tuomi also will serve as the office's
Tribal Services Representative.
The office will primarily provide
information and referral, host small
member gatherings, computer lab
use (e.g. for job searches) and lim
ited outreach services from Grand
Ronde and other providers.
Planned Tribal services include
cultural classes (e.g. history, drum
making), employment assistance
counseling and occasional youth
activities.
A Chinuk Language Club is be
ing arranged.
The Education Division will pro
vide limited Adult Education and
Higher Education program services
while Natural Resources is planning
for salmon distribution there.
Other services will still be pro
vided in Grand Ronde but Tuomi
will assist with contacting pro
grams, accessing forms, reviewing
basic eligibility and arranging ap
pointments. More services may be
added but each will require that
usage rates justify the costs.
The Eugene satellite office is lo
cated on a Lane Transit bus route
at 711 Country Club Road, Suite
1A, north of downtown and east of
the Valley River Mall. Country

Club is the frontage road north of
highway 105 and is also the way to
downtown from 1-5. It can be ac
cessed from the east by the Coburg
Road exit and from the west by the
Willagillespie exit (also the exit for
the Valley River Mall). It is the sec
ond building set back off of the road.
Office hours are currently Monday-Thursday,
12:30-4:30 p.m. and
Friday 8 a.m.-12 noon. The tele
phone number is 541-484-7085.
The Eugene Office is seeking vol
unteer support to supplement the
services there. Those interested in
assisting, contact Tuomi.
Tuomi also will be available to
take suggestions on how this office
can be improved to meet active
Tribal member needs in the area.

also help troubleshoot issues that
come up.
Start-up funds for both the Eu
gene office and the new Portland
office were partially funded by a
grant from the Administration for
Native Americans. 1
