The Natural Resources Department of The Confederated Tribes of
Grand Ronde, in cooperation with Oregon Youth Conservation Corps,
seeks two youth crew leaders and 14 youth crew members for its Sum
mer Youth Crew program. These positions are designed and funded
for the purpose of providing enhanced opportunities for youth andor
students.
Youth Crew Leader F&W Intern
$10.50-$13.00hour. Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30
Approximately 14 weeks, starting June 11, 2004 (flexible)
Duties: Supervise and provide leadership to a seven-person sum
mer youth work crew for eight weeks and assist the Fish and Wildlife
Department for four to six weeks. Projects may include stream and
riparian restorationenhancement, trail and park maintenance and
construction, native vegetation plantings, habitat enhancement moni
toring, and other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Desire to work with youth and in natural resources.
Must be in good physical condition and be able to work in rugged
outdoor terrain. Experience in the proper use of hand tools. Good
communication skills.
Requirements: Work boots, valid Oregon Driver's License, safe
driving record. Must successfully complete pre-employment back
ground check and drug test.
Closing date: Friday, May 21, 2004.
Youth Crew Member
$7.75hour
Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30
Approximately 8 weeks, starting July 1, 2004
Duties: Work as a member of a seven-person summer youth work
crew. Youth crew projects may include stream restorationenhance-.
ment, trail and park maintenance, native tree plantings, forest in
ventory work, or other natural resource and community projects.
Qualifications: Must be 16-19 years of age. Must have the abil
ity or experience to safely and properly use hand tools. Must be in
good physical condition and be able to work in rugged outdoor ter
rain. Interest or experience in natural resources related work help
ful. Requirements: Furnish their own work boots and successfully
complete pre-employment background check and drug test.

Classes started Wednesday, March 3 and are every Wednesday
through May. (subject to change).

NEW: Now Young Warriors For Boys
All interested girls and boys must be able to meet the following guide
lines in order to be eligible for the Veterans' Royalty Court:
All must be enrolled members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand
Ronde.
Participants should have never been married and have no children
All must be enrolled in and currently attending a public or private
school.
All must be drug and alcohol free.
Must have one year of pow-wow experience.
Must have their own regalia, or be able to make their own regalia
before the application deadline. Participants must be willing and able
to attend all Veterans' events and be prepared to represent the Veter
ans and the Tribe.
Must have a parent or sponsor willing to participate and attend ac
tivities with the girls and boys and provide transportation.
Royalty Court participants and their parent or sponsor must attend
all required events (pow-wows, parades, fund-raisers, organizational
meetings and others). Absences can be prearranged with the Royalty
Committee Advisor. Three unexcused absences will result in disqualifi
cation from Royalty Court. Please note that all participants receive 1
point for every event for the contest. Royalty Court participants are
expected to stay for the duration of the events. This includes helping
setup for events such as meetings and parades, as well as dancing
during Grand Entry, InterTribals and staying until the flags are retired
unless pre-approved with the Royalty Advisor. Participants are expected
to speak in front of large groups of people. Royalty Court participants
must be willing and able to dance. Remember: You are all part of a
team and are expected to treat yourselves, running mates and others
with respect at all times.
As of July 9, 2004 you must be 1 0 to 1 4 years of age for Junior Veterans'
Royalty Queen Junior Veterans' Young Warriors; and 1 5 to 1 8 years of
age for Senior Veterans' Royalty QueenSenior Veterans' Young War
riors. Deadline is April 30, 2004.
