Surprise Storm Spurs
Emergency Response Plan
Many Tribal members have been contacting Tribal Council with con
cerns about the crippling affect of the winter storm at the beginning of the
year, which, due to the speed and intensity of the weather, trapped many
in their homes and made it impossible to access Tribal services, or even to
get critical medications.
As the safety and welfare of Tribal members is extremely important to
Tribal Council, this storm prompted them to begin coordinating depart
mental efforts to deal with these types of storms and emergencies. An
inter-departmental Emergency Response Plan will be developed to help
Tribal members deal with events such as severe snow storms. The Emer
gency Response Plan will eventually lead to a comprehensive Disaster
Plan.
For further information, please contact Charles G. Haller II, Tribal Coun
cil Relations Coordinator, at 503-879-1309 or 800-422-4232 extension 1309
or charles.hallergrandronde.org.
