Smoke Signals
Tribes' New Property
The Tribe recently purchased two pieces of property, shown in dark blue on this map. The larger
of the parcels is called the AGZ property and is 9.14 acres right behind Elder Housing. The smaller
parcel is the 1.5-acre Church of God parcel (shown at right), on the north side of Hebo Road. Both
are on the west side of Grand Ronde Road.
The map, created by Josh Levy, Tribal Geographic Information Systems Analyist from the Cul
tural Resources Department, shows the parcels in relation to other Tribal properties, but also in
relation many of the initial Allotments granted to Grand Ronde Tribal members.
Over the years, the Tribe's original 69,000-acre Reservation was whittled down to the seven-acre
Tribal cemetery. The success of the Spirit Mountain Casino has allowed the Tribe to begin buying
back some of that property. The map also shows lands back in Tribal ownership.
