2 SEPTEMBER 1, 2003 Smoke Signals Dear Smoke Signals, I am writing to say a big THANK YOU to all of our Summer Youth Interns. We had a wonderful group of helpers this year. Some of them are really outstanding Ashlee Merrill, Kyle Mercier, Wendy Mercier, Nick Kimsey and Alex Bishop. These young people have so much going for them and will go far. They are a credit to themselves, their families and to the Tribe. Hopefully, they have gained something that will help them in the future, from their experience with our program. I enjoyed working with all of them and wish them all the best and God's blessings for the coming year and always. Sincerely, Margaret Wilds Dear Editor, Upon visiting the statue, for the Veterans' Memorial, I want to say how moved I was by it. Seeing the names of two of my uncles, Samuel J. Swartz and Waymon D. Gauoute, as well as a cousin, Jake Strom, really made my heart swell and brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful memorial and tribute for those Veterans who fought to keep our freedom. I really enjoy receiving the Smoke Signals and enjoy reading the news of the people my grandparents, aunts and uncles knew. Sincerely, Viki Urbaniak Roseburg, Oregon Dear Smoke Signals, The family of Joe Mercier would like to express sincere thanks for all of the flowers, cards and words of kindness during the past weeks. Special thanks to Mid-Willamette Valley Hospital and Oakwood Con tinuing Care Center staff for the many hours of care that was provided for Dad. We would also like to thank everyone that helped prepare the meal Kevin Campbell, Pearl McKemson, Penny Deloe, Louise Coulson, Tracy Beiry, Darlene Aaron, Shirley Walkhoff and Beryle Contreras. Sincerely, Fran, Bob, Bonnie, Carol & Jeff CONFEDERATED TRIBES OF GRAND RONDE OFFICIAL BALLOT COUNCIL GENERAL ELECTION Grand Ronde September 6, 2003 it, I TO VOTE: Complete Ine arrow pointing to the candidate of your choirfi like this: .
