Elders' Honor Day Brings Together
Friends from Many Tribes
Living, treasures treated to lunch, dinner, bingo and
entertainment.

Again this year, Elders packed
the Tribal gymnasium with almost
250, according to Tribal Elder
Anna Hannan. They came from
Tribes across the state and indi
viduals throughout the West.
Tribal Elders, including
Annabelle "Peachie" Hamm, signed
up early and took in the sun on a
bench outside of the gym well be
fore the grand entry, talking about
old times, new times, who knows
what times, alert for the arrival of
members of the color guard and the
official start of Elders' Honor Day

Candidate Forum Airs a Lot of
Ideas and Draws Many Candidates
Beautiful weather may have reduced turnout.

Thanks were given to Tribal
member Doug Colton for setting
up the gym. There were enough
chairs for a couple candidate fo
rums, as things turned out, but
disinterest in official politics did
not stop fourteen candidates,
their spouses, children andor
neighbors from showing up for
three minute statements from the
candidates.
Following the short presenta-

tions, candidates manned tables
to meet and greet the audience
and field any questions that
arose. Some offered literature,
and there were souvenirs tied to
the politicking as well: t-shirts,
candy and feathers.
"This is a great place to have
it," said the Tribe's General Man
ager Cliff Adams. "It's a tough
